@caresabouthealth , you cant go back and get it once you already have sex. I am going to be a bit dramatic here and maybe a far fetched example but what if that â perfectâ special person you decide to marry lied to you and told you he was a virgin? For whatever reason. So what if you get vaccinated and didnt need to ? No harm done. The harm of not getting vaccinated could be deadly.
In February of this year, after a lengthy convo with a dear friend ( I met here)he urged me to go for a pap and gyno check. It had been at least 4 years since I had one. I have been with my husband for almost 26 years and him being my only sexual partner except for one other in the last year. I dont know for sure if my husband has ever cheated, I suspect he did many many years ago and around the same time I did for the first time last year.
My pap came back abnormal. I was at first not alarmed as it has happened in the past due to having a retroverted uterus and a cervix that is way up high they do not always retrieve enough of cells. I got called in for a second pap. The dr was much more diligent and made sure she got a sufficient sample. I was literally shocked when that pap came back with not only abnormal cells but also HPV positive.
So many thoughs have ran through my head. The when and who are really moot points right now.
While I know we are all adults and choose whether or not to use condoms I do feel terrible guilt that I may have passed it to someone else.
I have since had 3 biopies. The drs were confident that my mid grade cancer cells were only on the surface of my cervix. One surgery was unsuccessful at removing all the cells( due to my challenging cervix position) .
After a long stressful wait and unforseen dr obligations I finally have my up coming appt Friday with an Oncologist I was referred to.
What my next steps will be are known yet but my point is that if I would have been given the option of the vaccine I sure as heck would have taken it.
As far as negative side effects of it, I urge of you anti vaccine people to do your own research from reputable sources.
Since my surgery, becuase of some funky alarming discharge that I was not expecting nor prepared for I joined a support group for women with cervical cancer. I can tell you there are an alarming amount of women that are suffering from far worse than I have right now and thousands that die from cervical cancer. Not all are due to not being vaccinated as there are different strains just like every thing else but how many could have been saved ?
If you look at numbers of complications from vaccines ( any) vs numbers that die or get sick from not getting them there lies the real answers. The risks far outweigh the consequences.
