Some older members here might remember the Beth Tyler operation in the 1980's -- from the Hartford area, with ads in counter-culture tabloid papers.
I knew Ron, and his second wife Beth. They ran a number of businesses, including a photo finishing service that did excellent work, both for "adult" amateur snapshots as well as professional photo finishing for the adult entertainment industry. They did excellent work, with great customer service. When Ron moved to Texas, he sold that business, which continued for a few years. Markets change, though, and I think they're out of business.
Supposedly they divorced; Ron they married a woman from the Phillipines and her name was also Beth -- so there were two Beth Tylers. Ron kept the business; the new Beth was also into enemas (how did the topic come up with them?). Word came two years ago that Ron had died; no idea what happened to the original Beth. -- there is currently a Beth Tyler web site, with a "Tribute to Ron Tyler" and a question "Is there a real Beth Tyler" with a phony answer about living in the minds of enema fans everywhere.
Not really all that phony of an answer. The "original" Beth had no interest in continuing in the industry. The "new" Beth wants to lead a private life, her interest was within the context of her relationship to Ron. Even so, was there ever a "Beth Tyler" ? Most of us old enough to remember when Ron was producing movies, picture sets, and magazines might remember them, if they've ever done business with them, or waited for them to release the latest new product for our enjoyment. To the rest? They know the name, and have seen the pictures, but will never actually know them. In many ways, the tribute was to be thought of like the famous letter "Is there a Santa Clause?". In many ways "Beth's" one and two, and "Ron" helped many of us discover a part of ourselves that we might not otherwise have been comfortable with, and they made products available for our enjoyment, and they helped us feel like maybe we weren't alone in our enema interests.
The present site is run by "Linda Marie & Jenny."
In the later years Linda Marie and Jenny helped Ron run the business, When he died, they stepped in to keep the business going. They're both fantastic people.
Either way, genuine credit goes to the original Beth and Ron for legitimizing what for many of us seemed naughty if not evil, forbidden, to be kept secret, etc. (my present partner picked up on my enema enthusiasm -- one day when she was on top, I let my finger stray and began talking about taking temperatures this led to enemas). Occasionally she will participate. One night I came home from a meeting to find she had hung the enema bag from the shower curtain. Doesn't get any better than that!
It indeed doesn't get any better than that. They'll be missed, but their memory will live on.
