I am unsure what happened here. For many, many years my wife would have NOTHING to do with enemas. She would grudgingly assist me if I asked during an IBS flareup, but angry every time. She thought it unnecessary, and a barbaric treatment. No encouragement, no insertion, barely a word except, "its done." If I did a second bag I heard, "You're going to do ANOTHER??"
Grump!
Then two months ago I had a flareup of IBS which just would not go away. Cramps, pain, sleeplessness. I usually find warm baking soda enemas help calm the gut, so I got the bag out and started a three enema series. I was in the middle of the first when she walked in to the bedroom and found me in the Sims position on the bed with about 1/3 of the bag gone. She actually offered to help! She held the bag, controlled the clamp, and encouraged me to "take it all!" OMG! She watched as I refilled the bag for enema #2 and said she would do that while I used the toilet. OMG! For this enema she said it might be better if I got on my hands and knees with my bottom up since I have such difficulty getting a full bag in while on my side! She inserted the nozzle and controlled the flow while holding the nozzle in my bottom. OMG!
For enema #3 she said the OTHER nozzle might actually be better to get the solution in. That would be the douche nozzle!! (She does not douche, so no danger of cross contamination.) So she swapped nozzles and proceeded to fill me up in the knee-chest position!
Who is this woman?
Every night for the next three nights I got the same treatment! On the third night our latex bag tore at the neck and broke. She volunteered to go to Rite Aid for a replacement, but I told her they don't carry enema bags at our store - not even the combo bags. She actually shopped in our Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and found no open top enema bags over the next week.
My bride then actually went on Amazon and ordered a clear silicone 2.5 quart bag! Really OMG! Who is this woman??
We left for vacation just two weeks ago and she said, "Don't forget to pack the enema bag and baking soda in case we need to fix you up!!" I can only say it was used three times in two weeks and this was a great vacation!
So I do not know what happened, but I am sure enjoying the change!!
