And why was it uncomfortable?
Who gave it to you? All the details please.
There's no doubt in my mind about this one. When I was in high school, I injured myself on the golf course and was taking pain pills which constipated me. My mother gave me a conventional soap suds enema, which produced less than the desired results. Mother said I'm afraid you're impacted and you need something stronger. She instructed me to go laid down or stay put until she prepared a M&M Enema. I thought what the hell is a M&M Enema. ??? When she returned to the bathroom she was carrying a pan full of brownish white liquid. She fill the bag with the solution and I assumed the traditional over the seat position. At first, I didn't the enema feel any different than a regular but soon I began to cramp. She stopped the flow and massaged my stomach then started the flow again but I soon cramped again. She repeated this procedure several times before the bag emptied. When I expelled the liquid it felt as if my insides were being blown out of me. I've only had one M&M and one is enough.
Later I read in one of mother's nursing books that the combination of milk and molasses produces gas which causes the rectum passage way to expand and forces the feces or matter out.
My most uncomfortable/painful enema was when I was 11 and in the hospital with an undiagnosed appendicitis. In the course of trying to figure out what was wrong with me, I was given a large barium enema, then some equipment came down from the ceiling and pressed really hard on my abdomen--yeah, you got it--while my appendix was about to burst. I guess they still couldn't figure it out, because they took me in for exploratory surgery and I was cut from just under my navel down as far as possible. Needless to say, there was nothing remotely erotic about any of that.
A barium enema when I was about 13. The cleansing enemas before hand were fine, but the barium enema was about 2500cc and was very uncomfortable.
Like ddell2, my vote for most uncomfortable enema would have to be the M&M enema. Our experiences with M&M enemas sound quite similar.
In my case it was Barium Enema at age 13, the volume of the enema and then having the machine plate putting pressure on my abdomen was very unpleasant. Despite the equipment used I felt like I was going to have an embarassing accident. After I had to have more enemas to help get rid of the Barium residue. It was also unpleasnat evacuating the Barium.
My most uncomfortable enema was may own fault. I was new to enemas and did not know that 'soft soap' is not really soap but a detergent. I thought that it would be milder than Ivory so I decided to try it. I filled the 2 qt bag with very warm water and put in about 4 or 5 pumps from the soap dispenser. I got down in a knee/chest position and inserted the nozzle and opened the clamp. Almost immediately the soap began to burn. I didn't know that wasn't normal for a soapy enema so let it flow for about 15 seconds. By then the burn was very bad so I stipped the flow and tried puppy panting. The burn subsided some and I thought I was just being a sissy so I restarted the flow.
After about another 15 seconds my rectum and lower colon felt likle it was on fire. I stopped the flow and emptied the bag. I quickly rinsed it out and refilled it with just water. I didn't bother to relube the nozzle, just jammed it in and started the flow. I took water for about 20 seconds and then expelled it. I then did 2 or 3 more rinse and expel cycles to get out the rest of the soap. I had cramps and a few more short expel cycles as
my colon rejected the remainder of the soap. It took about a full hour for my colon and rectum to return to a normal feeling. I have not premanent damage except to my ego. This experience has caused me to be a plain water and sea salt enema girl. I have read (very carefully) all the various recipes for enema mixtures and I am not going to try any until someone who knows can inform me exactly what to expect. I don't like cramps or go for volume so just
water works great for me. The soap was brand SOFTSOAP Lavendar adn Chamomille.
If you are really into pain this is one painful enema but I don't recommend it to anyone.
I took one using shampoo. Of course almost all shampoos have some type of detergent in them. I had the same reaction as vicki, only it took longer to reach its crescendo so I had more in me. Whats more my upper colon became impacted and after couple of days became very uncomfortable. I finally took another tap water enema really high (both the bag and in the colon) to relieve it. I like comfortable enemas, I don't take them to intentionally produce cramps etc. But sometimes you have to pay the "piper".
I'll go along with the barium enema as the most painful experience. I had been scheduled for a "lower GI" and had a lot of fun with the "clean out" (Phosphate laxative and and several clear enemas administered by a loving female partner). But when I got there and the nurse administered a LARGE volume barium enema followed by air injected into my rectum by the doctor to "expand the bowels" so he could have a better look on the x-ray, it was a little much--in fact it was downright painful. I locked up and could not expell the barium for an hour or more and (oh darn!!) I had to submit to a couple of more clear water and glyceren enemas from my lovely partner in order to rid myself of the barium. Oh well, a little pain, a little pleasure.
Ditto for me on the barium E as being the most uncomfortable. I've had two of them, both followed with air injected to distend the colon for contrast images. With 2 or 3 med technicians around the table, you want to try not to moan and pant, let alone leak. All the while, they're telling you to hold still. And not to forget the go-lytely prep the night before. All in all, not an enjoyable procedure.
Nooo doubt about it. It was a Fleets phospho soda enema I gave myself. Had never tried a Fleet enema and bought one at the drug store in the mall for $1. When I injected it, it burned like crazy. I couldn't hold it for more than a few minutes and I had to refill the bottle with clear water more than a few times to get rid of the burning feeling. 😢
For me my worst was either an air contrast barium enema or 2 qts of cold milk with soap
Probably when I first got my 4qt Open-topped bag!
Soap suds so thick, it was almost like syrup!
I DID take smaller Epsom Salt and soapsuds enemas first to get to a clear return. I used a 5-inch nozzle!
I don't remember another enema in which I actually cried, and only a couple of others where I was actually Afraid!
The most uncomfortable I've ever had was a barium contrast enema. The actual barium was not bad, but the air injected was very uncomfortable. It was worse than the worst gas pains I've ever had.
It was administered at a Radiology facility by a very attractive young female technician.
Hope I never need another one!
The most uncomfortable enema I ever had was an M&M I gave myself last year. It was worse than any punishment enema I've ever had.
I was bored with my usual enemas - Ivory or baby shampoo followed by plain water rinses. I'd known of M&M enemas ever since I read my mom's nursing books when I was 10, and I'd tried just about every recipe I'd ever read about except for the M&M, so I decided it was time to finally do one.
It wasn't cramping from gas that hurt. I didn't have any gas or cramping. I just felt plain old awful. A little dizzy, too. I thought dying would be a viable alternative.
Another M&M someday? Never again!
I received an enema from a friend of my mothers when I was about 11 while staying at her house while my parents were out of town. She used an enema bag, which was the first time I had received an enema from a bag. I hadn't recevied an enema for several years, and even then my Mom used a small bulb and only gave me a few ounces.
She took me upstairs to a spare bedroom and gave me the enema while I was laying on my side on the bed. I'm guessing it was close to a quart since the bag was about half full.
It doesn't seem like a lot now, but at the time I had a hard time holding it. I remember that I couldn't believe that she expected me to take so much, and I kept expecting her to quit at some point. She clamped and unclamped the tubing a couple of times when I really starting cramping, but she was determined to give me all of it, which she did.
I stayed with her about once a month whenever my parents went up to some farm property they owned. She always let me eat all the junk food I wanted, which always constipated me. My mom apparently threatened not to let her keep me anymore if I came back constipated everytime. She and her husband didn't have any kids and they really loved for me to come visit. She told me I could take an enema on the day before my parents came home, or I couldn't eat anymore junk at her house. I was always too weak to resist all the sweet stuff she kept around, and so always had to have the enema.
I had pretty much forgotten about the enemas she gave me until I received some enemas in the hospital when I was in my early twenties. Those were given by a middle aged female nurse and brought back memories of receiving the earlier enemas. That's when I became interested in enemas.
For sure a lower G.I. 'air contrast barium enema'!
The starting barium enema was bad enough, (good thing they were using a nozzle with a balloon!), but after that, they lower the bag, allow it to drain out of you, (what a relief!), but then comes the surprise. Pumping you up with air for more X-Rays.
It would have been nice if the X-Ray tech had the film ready! Sweating on the table trying not to explode, looking for something to hold onto, yelling at the X-Ray tech to 'hurry up'! And in the back of your mind, hopping that the tech is standing behind you if you loose it...
The worst was when iwas a little boy i was ill and my mother bave me one with a bulb syringe over her knee but first i fought her on it saying i did not want it but she prevailed. the fight was longer than she wanted and she gave me a spanking first. well the enema did not feel to ogood after that.
I agree, the ones over my mother knee that i did not want. Of course the spanking rapidly changed that and i just accepted them.
As before, the ones I got as a child were most uncomfortable because I was having them forced on me, not giving them to myself. I've already described the first one - that has to be the worst because it basically took two adults to hold me down and another one (the nurse) to stick the tube in.
A double contrast barium enema, the liquid barium was not bad but after the barium was drained out they filled my large intestines with air and that was major pain.
The most uncomfortable enema was at a bondage parlor and I was hung upsidedown while receiving it.
The most uncomfortable enema was one my mother gave me when I was severly constipated due to medications. It was a full 2qt enema which was given with me on my back with my knees bent back, legs in the air and spread wide open.
At the hospital, when having my baby, it was a pre delivery enema, very painful, a nurse administered it, but my husband (ex) who was there, enjoyed it.
Everytime i tried to use soap I felt unconfortable... I forgot ...
everytime I tried to hold it more than normal ...
I felt stomach ache for some hours after
Also a barium enema at the hospital. Definitely not a fun experience.
The worst one for me was a 'Barium Enema with Air Contrast. After they got me filled and took the X-rays and had be go and evacuate, I had to go back and have them fill my gut full of air. The techs instilled so much air that it forced some of the barium backwards throught he stomach and up the esoghus.
The moset uncomfortable/painful enema was the first enema I ever gave myself. I used Tide detergent. I was in a hurry and that was all I could find. I didn't get much in and it kept me going for some time. I never tried Tide again!
I was once given an enema from one of my playmates, she wanted to play with some solutions so we tried a few but one solution has stood out as the most uncomfortable. she u boiled up a 3qt brew of lemon extract, Dr.Teals milk and honey bath salt. she then chilled it in the frig and strained it through ice as she poured it in the bag. we use a double baloon nozzle which was very needed. this enema caused me cramps galoure and kept me expelling for quite sometime.
Without a doubt the most uncomfortable was the only time I tried the M&M enema. Far too crampy for my likes.
