@JustWilliam yes I have an official diagnosis , I have two rare diseases that are progressive and degenerative , I am being turned into a toddler ,the diseases are both killing my muscles ( including the two most important muscles heart and diaphragm) I got my 1st wheelchair own personal chair in 2006 but was in a loaner for 3 years before insurance giving me my own finally ,I am now in my third chair .
The greatest problem in getting my own chair was people not understanding my diseases or the "journey" I would be ion ,today's abilities aren't guaranteed today tomorrow or yesterday ,meaning everything is fluid ,I have a little gremlin in my body ,it can paralyze any part of me anytime for as long or as short as it wants ( I have woken up paralyzed and it lasted seconds or minutes ,I have also woken up and had it last 5 years ) so I take nothing for granted ever ,and am constantly accepting "new normal" , part of the fun with wheelchairs is they generally can not be upgraded or updated ,so insurance will deny a feature or adaption till you absolutely need that function ,so you either get alot of junk wheelchairs going in the trash because they don't meet your needs ,or you find a doctor and PT/¥at that understands your a special case and authorize the Cadillac of wheelchairs that ends up saving money ,becausevwether you need the function yesterday but not again for six weeks ,it's already there originally I had functions that i didn't yet need , these days I use everything everyday to get thru the day ,without being hurt or hurting something "new" . I used to be in medicine so I am familiar with Parkinson's, you will have alot of waxing and waning abilities also, seems like everyone I know has some complex health condition that's poorly understood and nowhere near the level of research funding devoted to it, me at least I know I am toast one way or another ( they cant tell me what the END will be ,only that its very close ) .I have been doing a dance with death every year it tries to get me in a different way. So far it's by all accounts miraculous that I am not dead already .
Heart attacks, cardiac arrest ,coma ,stroke, brain injury, seizures ,rinse and repeat thats just the last 6 years not uncluding the chronic stuff they know about .
