Male Masturbation In The Military

I have never served in the military but have always wondered how guys in their early 20's and of course very horny find the time and privacy to masturbate. I have always imagined that being in the military guys live in close quarters and see each other naked when bathing and have accepted to live with much less personal privacy than most of us in civilian life.

So I would like to hear from zity members who have served in the military and have some first hand experience (no pun intended). I know it may vary on which type of service you are in, which impacts on the type of living facilities that are provided and the level of personal privacy afforded.

The main question is- how open are men about their masturbation? Is it not spoken about and only done in private? Or are there instances when guys do masturbate in front of others, e.g., showers or living quarters and its just an accepted as no big deal?

And what would be really fascinating would be to hear if as part of the induction process in the military, does the military even address the issue or have any guidelines about when and where it might be appropriate to masturbate?

When I as inducted into the Military. I went 13 weeks in boot camp without masturbating. Why? First, there were no stalls in the latrine, as the toilets were "open", so there was no privacy whatsoever, even to take a crap. Second, the Company Commander told us on the first day if he caught anyone masturbating themselves (or anyone else for that matter), we would be disciplined. I recall one guy was caught trying to satisfy himself prior to reveille; he ended up in the Company Commander's office. Not sure what the punishment was, as he wasn't talking. I think I might have had a few wet dreams during that period of time, but don't recall. In any case, after boot camp, I made up for my 13 week celibacy ... quickly.

I neglected to add in my previous post, that I think the Military added Saltpeter to the mashed potatoes. Perhaps a falsehood, but it is thought this additive suppresses sexual desire, and thus the urge to masturbate. I guess I'll never know.

Thats an item that was NEVER talked about back in the 60s when I was in, but a ride on my motorcycle out on a old dirt trail in the woods, satisfied my needs.

I suppose that the military thought that by suppressing any outlet for sexual urges, all that raging energy would be re-channeled into a blood-lust for dirty rotten commies ... ha ha.

As a former Corpsman, I can tell you that the Salt Peter thing is a myth. It wouldn't work anyway.

I was in during the '80s. we rarely had open bay barracks.

In 13 weeks of boot camp, they drive you until you are too tired to think about it. It did happen, but no one talked about it (Unless they were caught!)

In Corps school most of my duty stations, the barracks were 3 men to a room. We other strung curtains around our bunks. ("Privacy Curtains" are pretty standard on ship berthing spaces.) We had open bay when I deployed with the Marines to Okinawa, but they used lockers to separate out 2 man cubicles. (As a Second Class petty office, I had a cubicle to myself.)

Think of it like you were a kid living at home and sharing a room with your brother(s). If there is a will, there is a way.

I never understood why all forces and corps were so reticent to sexual issues of their members especially soldiers withouth graduation. Perhaps a way for mind and will control of the "masses" of troop. I guess that this is a very big insanity because the repression of natural men pulsions will ending in an absolute disinterest due to the high accumulated stress among the troop and the subsequent mistakes committed by them during the training and manoeuvres.

Along with that, is very important to note that in most mil. organizations homosexuality remains being something almost forbidden and therefore ignored as if it did not exist. The rule automatically and officially allot to each soldier the "presumption of heterosexuality" in fact pursuing and severely punishing any hint of such behavior among them during service period. Severely dictatorial behavior that should be eradicated from modern armies, since they violate the most basic human rights, because the free exercise of sex is a biological need that must be satisfied as any other of body.
