"Right in here," the nurse said as she walked into the exam room, holding the door open for Leah. "Have a seat on the exam table and I'll take your vitals."

The exam table was about waist high. The white paper crinkled as Leah used her hands to push herself up, sitting facing the nurse with her feet dangling off the side.

"Open," the nurse put an oral thermometer in Leah's mouth.

As Leah awkwardly grabbed the thermometer with her left hand, the nurse said "Finger," and put a monitor on Leah's other hand.

"Give me your arm," the nurse said a minute later, and she wrapped the blood pressure cuff around Leah's pale, bare arm.

Leah felt a slight pleasure as the nurse placed her stethoscope on Leah's bare arm. With being single her whole life and the recent social isolation, this was the most physical contact Leah had had in months.

"Good," the nurse said, interrupting Leah's thought and quickly moving the exam along. "Slip off your shoes and step on the scale here."

Leah's shoes dropped to the floor as she kicked them off from the table. She slid off and padded over to the scale in her socked feet. Leah stepped on the scale, and the nurse recorded her weight. 120 pounds.

"Turn around and stand straight now," the nurse said.

Leah did so, and the nurse recorded her height. 5 feet and 3 inches.

"Sit back on the table. The doctor will be in soon." The nurse walked out, and Leah was left to her imagination again.
