That's really bullshit. The whole idea of a legal contract is completely ridiculous and anyone who doesn't realize it PROVES that people into BDSM are NOT more intelligent that those who do not partake in it.

I agree with you that there is no legal reason to let someone Dom you even if you signed something but the submissive lifestyle can put them in a mindset that does not allow them to easily disengage. Could they just walk out legally, sure but they are deep into the submissive mindset.

Some really interesting comments in this thread. i agree that being sub is a choice, at all times. To me, that is what makes it significant. To me being sub is not something a 'Dom' does to me, or a power He holds over me, it is a gift i give to Him. It's not a one time gift that keeps on giving, it's a gift every time i choose to give it.

i have a hard time thinking of what i give as "play," it has resulted in some of the most intimate connections of my life. The fact that my submission is real and not play though does not change the other fact that submission is always an exercise of my volition, not the will of a "Dom." I can see though, the M/s relationship, really does qualify as a "game" because, as SwitchableSusie and others have noted in this conversation, there is no legal binder that enforces or supports such an arrangement like in a marriage contract.

I consider myself a submissive because of being given enemas by mom. I still think about that experience and the control of the moment and the intense feelings. I am a shy southern gentleman and have no problem acting appropriately. I guess it goes to some extent along with low self esteem. I am well educated and know how to get along.
