Colon Tubes: Where and what to buy?

You folks are messing with something dangerous...perhaps deadly. Besides, you can't possibly feel it any better than an 18" tube.

Just wanted to report back. I been taking it real slow and yesterday managed to get in over 36". Used lots of lube, and when it was about 10" opened the flow to create a channel so that the tube just flowed in. Usually it kinks and prevents the flow from going in, but this time it kept on flowing and when it did stop, I pulled it back a few inches. Loved the feeling of the tube going through the colon and gave such a high enema without any cramping.

That is totally untrue. You can feel a colon tube going all the way around the colon inside the abdomen. If that wasn't true, you wouldn't have practically everybody having colonoscopies with sedation. Besides, you just plain do feel it going all the way in. I typically go in 24-36 inches with my 48Fr and LARGER custom tubes, and trust me, you feel it all the way and going around every bend!

I still feel the inflatable nozzel is the best but if your going to use colon tubes, you need to be very careful when inserting it, the bends in the colon can cause you problems, you need to go VERY slow and feel for any pressure on the tube, the last thing you want is a perforation.

Longejoy, you need to be very careful, the plain amber hose will have a cut edge and since you say it's somewhat stiff it can cause harm. The colon tube is quite flexible and has a tapered end for protection while passing curves in the colon. You might wish to just buy one. Go to http://www.chaseunion.com

Thank you - good advice. By stiff I meant it doesn't collapse - it holds its diameter. Lengthwise it is rather floppy and difficult to insert alone. But we pass it through a tray of really soapy water placed just inches from my bottom and that helps keep it slicked up. Also I rounded the business end by carving with a razor then slowly sanding. Its a pain to try and sand gum rubber, but you have to keep intent on the goal. Its introduced very slowly and with water flowing slowly as well. We're careful with it. Although I can describe here in detail experiences I've had, having to describe an enema or anal play injury to a Dr or emergency room just petrifies me.

This seems too small a diameter to be of any real use. Why bother with it? Better see if you can use something larger and get a decent flow.

I have a collection of over 50 colon/rectal tubes in just about every length and size imaginable, and have experimented with them ALL. My conclusions:

With standard "orange" rubber (actually plastic) colon tubes, longer is better, but only IF YOU can actually get them all the way in without kinking.

Before the internet, for many years the only colon tubes I could find were F22 to F32 in a 30" legenth. They worked well, but I eventually wanted to get the enema highter up into my colon, so I spliced two F22 30" colon tubes together, and could get them all the way up my colon most of the time (but not always). That gives a really EXCELLENT HIGH ENEMA!

Via the internet I came across an Indian manufacturer and ordered a sample of ALL sizes of 50" colon tubes from F20 through F48, and tried them ALL. To my surprize, the smaller F sizes were considerably less likely to kink and go all the way in (as measured by where the fluid is asctually filling up the colon). Since smaller diameter, long colon tubes seemed the "best", and were not readily available on the internet, I considered "going into the business" - only to find out the minimum orders from India were too large for my expectations, plus my impression that most people find the larger F sizes much "sexier" (I certainly feel that way!) and there probably is not much of a market for the smaller F sizes, ever if they tend to work better.

Since the introduction of SILICONE COLON TUBES, I have switched to them almost exclusively. They are smoother and less likely to kink, in part due to a relatively thicker internal wall. They're expensive, but I think well worth it. They are also easier to keep clean.

I use an F30 30" silcone colon tube for "regualar" use, and also enjoy a 48" F40 silicone colon tube. They are both available from www.optimalhealth.com as well as other places on the web.

I have a 24" fr48 that works well and does not kink if inserted slowly

I have a FR32 colon tube and can insert it the full length. I also agree with Susie, I can feel it going in and coming out.

You've got the right idea with the amber gum rubber surgical tubing ,been using it for years,great stuff.36 inches all the way in,no problem.

I would suggest you stay away from smaller diameter tubes for two reasons. First, they will kink much easier if they reach any resistence (bend in the road). Second, if they don't kink and you apply pressure to push past some obstruction, their head end is much smaller, and more pressure will be applied to a smaller area of your intestine wall.

I really doubt you could get enough force transfered through the tube to punch through, but why take the chance.

I bought a 30 Inch Long Open Ended Rectal 40fr from the www.medicaltoys.com people. I can fit the whole thing in. It's blunt enough that i'm not worried about punching it through an intestine wall. The bluntness is the reason I got the largest FR size they had.

It's certainly the fastest thing I have for emptying a full bag into me.

It does feel good letting it slink out of you.

Now if only someone will combine a colon tube with anal-beads and make some sort of bumpy colon tube....

I have had so many colon tubes it ain't funny. Here's what's wrong with the rubber colon tubes. When you first get them new,they're very hard to bend around corners inside of you. You must heat them up by soaking in very hot water to soften them up. It takes awhile to get them the way you want. After you use them awhile they're OK. For the money I would rather go to a surgical supply and buy a amber gum rubber any thicknes and length you want for a buck a ft. Compare that with the price of a colon tube that will deteriate very quickly if you use any kind of oil such as olive oil which I use a lot.

When you get your amber tubing, round off the end with sand paper. Place a dowel into the tubing before you sand so that you'll have a hard surface to press on to.

I know just how you feel. It isn't often that I'm able to get the entire length of y 34fr or 48fr colon tubes all the way in without them kinking or doubling up on themselves. When I do, it's usually with someone else adminstering the enema. My older, lady "therapist" is very good at insertions and can occasionally work my 36inch tube all the way in with the enema flowing at the same time.

I've had several colonoscopies without sedation and the sensation of the colon tube passing through the transverse colon is very similar....moderate pressure in my left side accompanied by a slight crampy, gassy feeling as it goes further and further in....a delightful pain/pleasure sensation for a hopeless enema addict like me.

There are a number of large tubes on the market with wall thicknesses that are inadequate for the job (1/16in or less). Although this thickness enhances flexibility, such tubes are very prone to kinking. A 48Fr 50in tube may ’look’ substantial enough to get well up into the colon, but as often as not, it will start to kink just as soon as the tube end encounters a major bend or flexure. Of course, that’s as far as the tube is going to go and the tube end is now on its way back to the exit. If you have a Higginson syringe hooked up in line with the colon tube, you will know as soon as the kink develops. You may be able to pump the tube past the offending flexure, but trouble is still in store for you when, say, the colon itself coils (maybe owing to a wave of peristalsis) and the tube isn’t up to holding its own. What should be an exercise in sexual delight as the tube erotically massages the colon on its upward journey, ends up in frustration and failure.

The answer...or, at least, my answer... is to make sure your tubes have at least a wall

thickness of 1/8in. You can always make a stiff tube more flexible, but you can’t take the kinkiness out of a floppy tube.

Sounds like you are getting "stuck" at the top end of the rectum where there is a sphincter similar to the one at the bottom (the anus).

Try filling up your rectum with a quart or so of fluid and then "wiggling" the colon tube around while pushing firmly - which should get it past this spincter. Also changing your position, moving around to every possible way may help you get the job done.

Despite the "standard" diagram of the colon which goes from your rectum to the left side and then up the left side, across, and then down the right side, "mileage may varry". (Personnally, I have an extra loop in mine, which I'm told is not all that unusual.) 😃

It sounds as if the tube is new and like many new 48Fr tubes it is quite stiff. It would help to know the source of your tube. Tubes from some sources are often quite stiff. However, you are clearly not getting the tube end through the rectum and into the colon. As Win suggests, you might try a variety of positions to align your tube end with the colon opening. Dilating the rectum with solution often helps. However, you may find that unless you soften the tube to make it more flexible, your difficulties will continue. Some people advocate boiling the tube repeatedly until it responds. Also, there are other strategies if nothing seems to be working.

If you're having problems inserting the tube, first lie on your back and make sure you have allowed some water to flow in (you don't need a lot) as you advance the tube. The water along with the mucus on the colon wall, helps lubricate and dilate the colon as the tube gets advanced. There is a reason colonoscopies are done with you on your back and not in a knee chest position. The reason is, in the knee chest position, all your organs are pushing on your colon and you can't "massage" the tube to where you want it to go when one hand is inserting and you need at least one hand to hold yourself up in position. When you are on your back, your colon is on top of all the other organs, and you can use both hands. Unless you are very overweight, it is easy to feel the tube going inside your colon and to localize the position of the end of the tube so you can push it in the direction you want it to go. One hand is to insert the tube, and the other is to "massage" and manipulate the colon tube around the bends of the colon. The age of the tube doesn't really matter. I like heavy, thick, stiff tubes, 48 Fr and larger (not softened thin tubes) and I can always get them in 24-36 inches, depending on my mood, without difficulty, especially after an initial 2 quart enema to break things up inside and flush most of it out. While on your back, you can feel exactly where the tube is inside, and you can easily manipulate it.

I've only had success with silicone colon tubes. I had one that was about 3/8" in diameter. Then OHN came out with the big 42french tubes. I have a 30" and a 48". I love them. They're capped with dilrin. They are very safe. The bigger the diameter the less chance of perforation.

I have used colon tubes for about 10 years but I have to confess its not my favorite nozzle I believe theres nothing that compare with to the double balloon rectal catheter. I allows you to be hands free for other purposes and also allows you to move around without risk of the nozzle coming out.

I have a couple of hints for those using long colon tubes First boil it for about 20 minutes when new, This will soften the rubber and allow it to slide around corners easily

Also when inserting have the tube well lubricated and have the water flowing slowly to ease insertion. I always use vaseline on my colon tubes I know they say that it contributes to the deterioration of the rubber, but wash well in soapy water after use and it gets the vaseline off Also they are relatively cheap and so what if they deteriorate they are cheap to replace and after all will last over a year Mine have lasted well over 2 years and they do get regularly used. I can manage to insert mine about 30 inches comfortably but remember if it hurts STOP

I have used them for several years--my first was from OHI out in Lemon Grove--then I got one from NEEDS--now I have silicone ones that I got from Kristina at OHN

I'm currently experimenting with 38 Fr Depezer and Malecot self retaining catheters. Up to now the Depezer seems to suit me best.

Sometime I like use a colon tube, my is a 48 Fr. 36 inches long. Safeguards are a lot of lube, gentle insertion ad avoid any pain. In my opinion thick colon tube are better then thin. Be careful and if possible for first time play with an expert.

There are different sizes/lengths. I have been looking for the larger diameter and reading some of your suggestions to get it moved up encourages me more to get one. I had an enema tube at one time, but was much more rigid that the more 'flacid' colon tubes. I guess I should bite the bullet and get one or two and start trying to 'thread the needle'

I had trouble using a colon tube successfully until I tried the silicone one from OHN. They aren't as stiff as the red ones and tend to go around corners better for me.You won't get a better clean out.

I am interested in finding large dia.( 72 - 78 Fr.), long colon tubes ( 2 - 3 meters), of soft durimoter ( 20-30). I have found that some science supply houses have soft tubing nearly 1 " in dia. with a 1/4" I.D. as vacuum hoses but have a ruff outer surface.

Are there any outfits that carry colon tubes that size or houses that sell rubber tubing that diameter and durimoter to make a colon tube???
