My guess is that if you called her she would have asked if you were relaxed, or if not what might help you relax. She might have suggested she had magazines to help you if you wanted them. Or, if all else failed, she probably would have told you to reschedule for another day.
I went to a fertility clinic several times. It was part of a major hospital and very highly regarded. Interestingly it was run almost entirely by women. The doctor I saw, an endocrinologist, was no more than 32 or 33, quite pretty, pert and even bouncy. She did a very thorough exam on me, especially my testicles, and was quite openly smiling as she examined me and to my surprise quite accepting when I got an erection. In fact she was more than accepting, she was visibly pleased, but in a sort of professional manner, if you can picture that.
On the second visit I chatted her up a bit and finally got around to asking some of the questions I have developed since the first exam. One was did she feel a lot of testicles. Answer: yes, literally thousands she imagined, but certainly many hundreds. And she added she could tell a fair amount by how they felt when she examined them, and that it was an important part of her exam. I also asked her about sperm samples, how they were taken, etc. She almost giggled as she reported happily that men were given private rooms and asked to masturbate.
The truth is I think she had been asked these questions before, perhaps many times, did not find them offensive and actually enjoyed answering them. All in all, I found her approach quite adult, straightforward and even rather enlightened. Afterwards, I realized that of course she would be professional, happy and enlightened in these matters, and that if she had been otherwise I would have or at least should have been surprised. I mean -- how else would one expect an intelligent and open-minded woman to act? And why on earth would a woman who was not intelligent and open-minded have such a job?
