I "suffer" from chronic constipation, as does my older sister. We are convinced that this was caused by nightly laxative doses administered by our mother from earliest memories to late teens. That said, we also got twice weekly enemas from Mom, and sometimes Grandma. There were times when we got enemas more often, including from our Aunt Ruth. (Actually, Aunt Ruth watched us during the summer when we were out of school, because Mom and Grandma both worked.) Ruth loved enemas, and took them daily. She gave them to us every other day; normally a very soapy one, which she trained us to hold for increasingly longer times, followed by a salt and baking soda rinse. By the time we were early teens, she knew we were enjoying her enemas, and she would give them to us anytime we wanted them. At 14, Ruth and I had formed a strong connection, and she told me that she received a great deal of pleasure from giving me enemas. I admitted that I got a lot of pleasure from getting them from her. Lisa enjoyed them, too, and Ruth gave to her every summer until she finished college. On the other hand, Ruth gave to me all summer, and we continued during the school year. By my 16th birthday, we had formed a very special relationship which evolved to me giving to her, also. Whereas she stopped giving to Lisa when Lisa graduated from university, our enemas continued until Ruth's death at 92. As for the question which many of you may be asking, some things need never to be told. What I will say about those years is that I do not think either of us ever moved our bowels "normally", nor did we want to. We rarely wore anything around the house, and knew that we loved seeing tummies distended with enemas. Now, Lisa and I live together, and we, too, love seeing a well- rounded enema belly. We usually share at least one enema every day, and sometimes on weekends we spend the whole two days doing serial enemas. These we do with double balloon nozzles, clamped with a hemostat while we hold and go about our household chores. Our normal enema is 3 or 4 qts, administered after dinner, and held as we watch TV or read books. I cannot speak for Lisa, but I cannot recall ever having had a "normal" BM to this day. To heck with luxury cars, Ivory soapsuds is the smoothest ride of all!
