Seconded. I'd seen the "official" drawings often with the colon going nicely around, but it was very eye opening to see a CT that showed my colon (especially from the descending to the rectum) going all over the place in my abdomen and the transverse hanging down below my navel.

If you read the post I linked above, it stated, "Don't think your colon anatomy will match up with what the textbooks describe. Everyone is a little different and some people are VERY different from what text books describe."

The best position for me is on my back with a pillow under my hips. This elevation allows water to flow a bit downhill. Lets gravity do some of the work! Some of the time my legs will be elevated with my ankles resting on my husbands shoulders with him kneeling in front of me. Other times I'll rest my legs in the Brewer knee crutches or have my feet in the stirrups. I will say the knee crutches allow perfect relaxation. I never heard it put this way but my husband uses the "Jerking Off" method described by Switchable Susie.

Our colon tube is part of a enema kit we purchased a few years ago. It's fairly limber and about 3/8's inches wide. My body will accept thirty inches very easily. We have never tried any more than that. We had tried other ways but the way we do things now is more intimate. We can see each other! As far as volume goes, I'm good for two quarts. That's the limit of the bag we use. Once I've taken thirty inches there is a bead stop made out of silicone that my husband made and fused to the tube.

The bead is inserted past my anal opening and the tube is then in a "Hands Off Mode" We can only do this with me in the crutches. Using this method my husband can massage my belly, kiss me and stimulate my clitoris or belly button. Either will give me an orgasm, especially the belly button! Some of my most intense orgasms have been during an enema session as the water slowly flows into my body and my belly button is made love to. I can squirm and wiggle with the colon tube locked in place. No leaks assured and the GD is a happy lady!

How do you make the bend into the traverse colon any tips?

Based upon the timing, I think you may be asking about how to make a large tube make the turn into the transverse colon (in you case, I think it's a 152fr tube). It is a little tricky with these larger tubes. I always do this on my back.

First, I assume you've already done a "clean out" If not, I highly recommend it because otherwise, with a large tube you could be pushing a lot of material "backward." What works best for me is to use a dilute solution of lube in the cleanout. Enough so that it leaves a lubricated surface when coming through with the larger tube.

Second, when you get to the splenic flexure, it probably isn't a simple 90° turn and you are likely to feel resistance from two sources simultaneously, the turn itself and the closure of the muscle walls in a peristaltic reaction to a large tube coming through. The tube can follow the turn if the muscles open enough and relax. If you can feel the muscles closing down and trying to push the colon tube out. Hold the tube in place as the pressure builds and then just back off a bit to help allow the muscle wave to travel past the tip of the tube.

When you feel the muscles begin to relax, give a little shot of whatever solution you are using, a little twist and increase the pressure to move the tube. In my experience the muscles will "open up" and allow the tube to slide around the corner. It may only go a short way or it may move 4-8 inches. If it is painful as you exert pressure, you aren't really ready for it, yet. It may take a few days of getting to this point and then having the experience of it suddenly "going around the corner." You'll know it when it happens (and afterward you will feel "stretched" and irritated a bit on the inside).

There are days when I get to the turn and can't get around it before opening the valve and sometimes opening the valve to begin the injection of solution will allow the tip to continue on its way. There are other days that even doing that doesn't help but I accept that at just allow the transverse colon and descending colon to fill "first" before the water wants/needs to flow past an into the descending and sigmoid colon.

One other thing. Water has certain lubricating properties but if you are using a soap or bicarbonate solution, both provide a degree of lubrication that assists in making the turns,

I have a question for Susie or one of our other medical types.

People talk about the need for lubrication in the colon and injecting some sort of lubricant there. (This is as contrasted to the anus which needs all of the lubrication it can get.) Does not the mucus lining of the colon provide enough lubrication that more is not needed?

If you instill some water along with the tube, you'll get all the lubrication you need inside the colon.

BUT, that does not mean you will get the tube past significant blockages of hard feces. You need to get that out first.

I find that I need to put in perhaps 2 qts using a nozzle of some kind to inflate my colon. Then I can put a colon tube in past the first two bends regardless of how old and hard the feces is.

I realize that you have said that water will tend to distribute it evenly throughout the colon, so it is not really necessary to use a colon tube to put in 4 qts of tap water, but I like the experience of putting the tube in all of the way and I also feel more certain that the water is truly near the cecum and is working to clean all of the feces out.

One high enema like that is probably sufficient to get most of the feces out, but if time permits, I will do a second, just to be sure.

My first experience with a deeply inserted colon tube was in my 20s during a colonic and enema session with Mildred Burgess in Boston. She used the "jerking off" method described by Switchablesusie. She also did some twisting and turning and, as Susie said, lubrication is important, be careful because you don't want to irritate your anus, or worse still, cause a hemorrhoid.

It took me quite a while to find just the right colon tube when I tried to do them at home. A friend had purchased all the enema equipment from a nursing home that included several 38 French tubes manufactured by Davol. They had a combination of diameter and flex and you could literally feel it almost spring itself around the sigmoid flexure, and you were home free from there.

It wasn't just me, my wife was into deeply inserted tubes at the time, and the tube and the senation were the same for her, that tube would snake perfectly around the flexure. We used it for about a decade until the rubber started to deteriorate. The slickness of the tube was just right too.

Being the moderate size it was we were often able to get it in deeply without a pre-enema. Let's just say there were a lot of fantastic orgasms thanks to this tube.

After the tube deteriorated every other tube we tried fell short (pun fully intended), but, thanks to eBay we purchased both sigmoidoscopes - rigid and flexible colonoscopes. Great fun, and you literally "drive" it through with the tip steering controls, of course you get a nice look around too. It wasn't until SiliconeNozzles came online that we were able to find a tube as much fun as the old Davol.

We tried several until we found the right combination. Only problem with the silicone tubes is a slightly tacky surface needing a lot of lube. As Susie says, particularly with the large diameters, without a clean out first you may be pushing against a lot of feces. But the sensation from some of the larger diameter tubes is incredible.

My first tubations by Mildred were following a colonic, but as it turned from colonic sessions to enema play there were times when I was tubed when I was full, and getting the tube around the poop was something Mildred could do like no one else.

Another trick, tape the tube to your leg and expel around it, doesn't always work, but it can be fun. I have had a continuous flow going sitting on the toilet the bag on an IV stand and Mildred or a playmate keeping the bag topped off. Lying in the tub, which I would do at home, is even better ! I was always amazed that Mildred kept a professional demeanor while providing some of the the most amazing enema play.

Only thing better was when I met Valarie at Grand Dames who could do nearly everything Mildred would do, but it was all about sex, and always a happy ending.

Colon tube insertion is relatively new to me, but I can say that lying down and inserting in any position seems to be really tricky for me. I typically lie on my left side and insert with my knees pulled up, but that just doesn't let a colon tube get further than 7-8", seemingly no matter what I try. I wondered if I'll ever manage further than that.

Then I tried something unconventional: squatting. Squatting is a natural BM position because it straightens the sigmoid and relaxes the dreaded puborectalis muscle that slings the sigmoid up, creating a “wall." I figured if the insertion issue was my sigmoid, I would simply do all I can to straighten it. Knees to my chest on the floor wasn't enough, so squatting it was.

I just finished a two bag series but figured to squeeze in one more for the fun of it, and to test if squatting may be the answer to my colon tube struggles. I prepped a soapy gallon bag, lubed my Model F, and squatted for insertion.

It was mighty tricky and tiring (I am a heavy girl after all), but I managed around 11" of my 16" colon tube nozzle in my first try. It just slid right in! I would've gone deeper if my grip wasn't so awkward and my thighs were starting to hurt. That said, I may have found my solution for colon tube insertion for now, if unconventional. If insertion is tricky, it may be worth a shot too.

I use a “lube as I insert method”….after a starter enema and release…i inject an ounce of mineral oil into the rectal vault.

Having a 3 qt full bag attached I slowly push n pull the colon tube for the first inch, then slide it up to any resistance…at that point open the clamp which floods the area opening it for easy insertion. Slowly inject water and push the tube higher and higher. A high is on attachment is also a good addition as it can force fill a troublesome area and open it up for the colon tube. I usually do this on my back, so my colon is flattest in my abdomen.

Years ago, when I was using nozzles for my enemas, my favorite position was flat on my stomach. The nozzle stayed in place which permitted me to relax and rock my hips as the solution flowed. Eventually I gravitated to using either a latex double balloon catheter (coffee enemas) or an FR30 Foley catheter fully inserted. Using those delivery methods I began the enema session on my left side. Plenty of lube massaged in and around my anus, then, with the hose passed under my right leg, the tip inserted and the clamp opened. As the solution flowed I slowly pushed the Foley in until I reached the inflation coupling. I rolled on to my back to complete the enema. My right hand held the tube to prevent it was slipping out as the enema progressed. I used my left hand to massage my abdomen. This method was an excellent way to take an enema.

My colon tube is medical grade red rubber and quite flexible. It is twice as long as the Foley tube, 30” vs 15”. Since my diagnosis I use the colon tube once a week to ensure a complete flushing of my colon. Same method as the Foley, left side, insertion of a few inches, open clamp and as the soap solution flows inch in the tube using a sawing motion. Years of practice have made it easy to insert. I do not rush or force the progress of the insertion, which typically take 90 or so seconds. Then I roll onto my back to massage the three quarts of solution filling my colon. Using the Seeking Health four quart bag it takes about five minutes to empty its contents.

It is interesting to note that colon tube users are the minority.
