In order to do this properly, a series of enemas should be given. Starting with a slow high enema to clean out the colon and start on the tranverse sides of the intestines. It doesn't hurt a bit. The enema can be an acquired or learned pleasure. The slowly increasing pressure inside is exquisite. You certainly don't need very large volumes, but an adult can almost always take two quarts.
