Examination of your erection

I disagree with that JDS. Very few teenage boys are going to honestly admit that they have any issues with their erections.

Related to this is the question of examining the foreskins of uncircumcised boys after they reach puberty. When I was at school the school doctor checked my foreskin retracted at every annual exam from age 13 to 18. He did the same exam on my classmates. All done in private and only took 2 minutes per boy.

Yes slightly embarrassing at the time but very worthwhile and in my view he should have gone further and checked our erections. Maybe his nurse could have been present for this as a chaperone to ensure it was a purely medical examination.

To the original post, your erection gets examined because you mention it to your doctor. You have a problem, perhaps, which only appears when you are erect. So the doctor figures it out, how to make that happen to his or her comfort.

For teenage boys, he or she can, and should, ask about a patient being sexually active. Which leads to other questions and answers erections.

That REALLY doesn't make sense. Other than erectile function, there's NOTHING on or about the penis that needs an erection to examine. A rash? Just stretch the penis or move it around and stretch the skin.

Both are commonly self reported and, as I said, are involved with erectile function. A rash is not.

I am just recently out of the hospital after a horrible head on car accd. My bladder was so badly damaged that it had to be removed and I now have a urostomy. A lot of my prostate was also removed as well as some nerves. I could no longer get erections and all of the "blue pills" failed. So urologist tried a pump. His PA, a male. did all of the teaching. I had to use the pump several times to get my dick hard enough for sex and he sat there there and helped me learn how to use the pump. No embarrassment for me whatsoever.

I'm seventy one and don't need any of that. i find the chemistry of the woman and me depends on the erection I will get. Some women do it while others don't. So the thing is keep yourself in shape and things will take care of themselves, at least from my point of view.

Then she asked my to take down my pants and underwear and lie down on the examination table. After she had put on gloves, she started to examine my penis and the testicles. She was moving the foreskin forth and back a few times and the penis got semi-erect. She asked me whether my penis was fully erect now and I declined, but she said she could already see what I meant. She recommended a separate examination, where my penis would be chemically erected and the problem could be properly analyzed, and made another appointment for me. This was in a nearby hospital, where she was also practicing. I had to be naked with only a gown and was shaved before the examinaton. I also got a sedative, so I didn't notice everything that happened. I was brought into a operation theatre, where there was the doctor and some nurses. My gown was taken up and I realized that I got a injection into the shaft of my penis. Then I fell asleep, but was later told that I got some drug that made my penis go hard to the maximum and then was examined with a ultrasonic flow measuring method. After I awoke, my penis was a bit blue and did hurt for two days.

Interesting story. Ive never heard or read about anything similar, so it's intriguing. If it's not too personal, maybe you could describe what happened afterwards? Were you given any kind of treatment for instance?

After the last examination I had a subsequent surgery, whereby the arterial influx into the cavernous body was increased. This did help me.

Unfortunately none of my doctors wanted to examine my erection before. To tell you the truth, it was more than 10 years ago that a doctor asked me to take off my underpants. It would be nice though...

I have had only a couple exam erections, but one was before the doctor got to the penis exam, so he did in fact examine it while erect. I was probal y 85% hard. He did ask before he began if I was comfortable with him examining my erection, and I didnt hesitate (I wanted him too). He spent maybe 30 seconds feeling it and moving it in several directions. He looked in my urethra and noted an enlarged vein on the side of my shaft. He did say it looked and felt healthy though, and for some reason that made me a little harder some how.

I did get an examination of my erection when I was tested to see if an injection would help with ED. The nurse injected the compound into my penis, then left and said she would return in a few minutes. It did get pretty hard and she asked if it was "maximum." I said it wasn't so she massaged it for a minute to two until it got up to "maximum." She was satisfied the chemical would work and said she would leave me alone for a while. I continued on with the "massaging" until I had orgasm - what the nurse expected, I believe, then concluded the visit. About the best medical visit I ever had!

The responses so far are quite off topic as usually happens in these forums so here is a more direct answer to your question. A Urological Procedure such as a Hydrocele on young men may indeed involve the witnessing of an erection prior to the surgery. The Urologist employs female Nurse Practitioners and they do a pre operative physical examination on the guy. Included as the physical progresses would be comments such as "I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH HAIR IS THERE I HAVENT SEEN IT YET;" THEN A COMMENT "WORKING MY WAY DOWN." By then most guys would be semi and the unveiling would totally expose them once sheet is pulled away. Then the eye contact of the Nurse and satisfaction of what she is seeing followed by her feeling the testicles and finally bringing a feature of the penis to the guys attention such as "YOU HAVE A TAG ON YOUR PENIS ITS RIGHT HERE SEE IT." As she literally holds the semi erect penis up by the head and rubs the underside near the tag. The stunned young man then erects totally and thus the Nurse has done her job as his erection flutters before her. Some Urological Nurses will have long red nails and use suggestive tone of voice. Now then do they enjoy this task? I would say they do or they would not be doing it. Hope that answers your question.

While I was never asked to get an erection, I frequently have one during exams, and due to a slight curvature in my erection, the doctor asked to do a more detailed examination of it after the physical was basically done. He checked for any signs of plaqueing, and asked if I had any pain or discomfort while erect, which I didn't.

Never in an actual clinical setting., although I have definitely gotten halfway or even more during real exams (when they actually used to check). Play exams? Yeah, definitely!

I participated on a ED drug clinical trial as healty patient. Preliminary assessment required several genital examinations including a very complete one with an urologist including transrectal and transurethral US. Finally a nurse come to me and gently retracted my penis, spread my meatus and inserted an urethral suppository saying it was to avoid injections. When the urologist come back to me my penis was erected and very hard. She proceded with a color doppler penile US. It was very embarassing and her touch on my erect penis was very arousing. It was the only time I was purposelly examinated in erection in a real medical session.

The only people who have examined my erection, have been my wife, and numerous girlfriends, prior to that. One was a nurse, so technically, I was examined by a healthcare worker.

Doubt there is any reason to examine an erect penis except for ED problems. The ultrasound on an erect penis is loOking for normal blood flow needed for an erection. Doc may want you to do a nocturnal erection test where the give you a band to put around the penis at night. If it’s broken in the morning that would tend to imply you can physically sustain an erection, and your ED may be psychological. If you have ED or other issues (peyronies disease etc) talk to your doctor.

When I was doing my military enrollment exam, bunch of boys enter the room realize a lady among the examiners, so the erection was for most of us, for those not erected, a guy doctor will just come over knock it, i bet he will record if continue no erection.. so there is that..i think they deliberately put the woman dr there
