I use them daily, with a few modifications:
reasons: they are locally available, and cost effective how I wear them.
modifications: I buy store-brand size 5 (best value for the $) from the big W box store. a pin to make many many holes, or fewer, slightly larger holes (mechanical pencil tip (metal) works great).
peel off the cloth outer to reveal the plastic backing first, and pull off the tabs, and you have a GREAT stuffer with good absorbency. with 2 of these stacked (I'm male, and I tuck, so I place the one closest to me with the "front" towards the back, as that direction receives flow first). if I add a second stuffer, I reverse the direction and offset slightly.
fit: If I'm going to be laying down on my back or sitting a lot, I'll put it on in the normal direction. these diapers fit much better if you pull the back up about an inch or so higher than the front. middle tabs first, position high - leave room to get those lower tabs secure and still keep it up high enough to the plastic of the legs rolling up doesn't expose adhesive... ouch!. top tapes last, take a tummy full of air and clench your abs, and then tape tightly about an inch down from the top edge, onto a smoothed out area... nice and snug, but juuuuuust loose enough that they won't stretch/break loose.
I've for some reason I'll be laying on my stomach, or if I'm going to add a second depend (overnight, enemas, etc..) I'll put the first one on backward, and roll/tuck in the legs and waist to make it fit higher on the legs and lower on the waist. I'm pretty thin, so they used to fit me better this way regardless.
reasoning: the smaller contour of the front will fit within the confines of the larger (back) second layer and be more leakproof.
in a well-prepared single depends with 2 stuffers I can reliably wear for 12 hours and wet many times without consequence or worry of leaking. absorbency if your urine is clear is probably on the order of 120 ounces. if you flood, or have a very yellow pee (drink more water) perhaps less absorbency.
other notes on diapers:
diaper polymer/pulp will absorb various liquids at different rates and total absorption quantity.
I've conducted (non-documented) tests on this a long time ago, and essentially, the more pure "water" they are asked to soak up, the better they do. alkalinity, oil, salt, or other content will reduce or eliminate the absorption ability.
