Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're simply looking for a diaper, then yes, these will work.
For me, however, they generally fall short of what I really look for--they are very much removed from any sort of 'baby' quality that most of us (or at least me) look for in a diaper.
Padding: They are overall quite thin, and don't give a bulky look and feel--they really are inconspicuous under most clothing, and they don't have that bulky quality between the crotch that reminds you that you are diapered. I like my padded tushy!!!
Tapes: Not really a fan a 6-tapes. Don't do too well with untaping/retaping the diaper.
Waistband: It has a gathered, elastic waistband that I find scratchy on my tummy.
Absorbency: OK for me, poor for others. I'm sure it would do fine with a trickle-type incontinence, as opposed to the sudden gushing, all-out-at-once diaper flooding we subject them to. I like how the padding at least extends somewhat into the plastic wrap-arounds, to give a sort of 'wings' protection.
Plastic outer: I like that it at least has a plastic outer shell, as most compoanies (especially the commercial retail) are doing away with the plastic in favor of a cloth-like shell. Now, the depends plastic is this sort of matte, almost vinyl-like plastic--the consequence of this is that the plastic rustling noise is decreased (though still audible).
Overall--not my first choice of disposable diaper, though in your situation, if you can only buy retail and not looking for a big case or to spend much $$$, this can work. I used to buy these until I was able to do mail-order (Attends Classic, 10)
