To add to my list from my last post. Another one I’ve found I have is exposure. As a child I too had a thing about bare feet which then quickly turned into being embarrassed without my shirt on. When I was young, I only knew a fetish as an object like a statue that was supposedly endowed with giving the owner good luck. That was the term often used for objects from African or tribal art. They were usually small, often small enough to carry on your person. Now we would call such things a good luck charm (like a rabbit's foot back in the day). During the Great War/WWI, one often read about (French) soldiers carrying fetishes for good luck. This could be anything from a small statue, ring, lock of hair etc.).

How the word for a good luck object turned into meaning a sexual ‘deviation’ I don't really know. Perhaps some sexual anthropologist borrowed the word and applied it to tribal sexual practices? Which in turn morphed into describing unusual sexual practices?
