What’s everyone’s longest time they have gone without pooping. Mine is 2 weeks.
I know from a woman after a Caesarean section that afterwards she had one week without pooping.
The last time of pregnancy had given you very hard constipation? You don't use enema or laxative? It was forbidden by your midwife?
Does she had given you enema at the begin of your childbirth labor?
Do you want to talk to us about your labor, maybe at the section concerned about this topic?
See you LisaK.
Few days for sure- after operation when the anesthesia messed with my whole system
About 10 days, shortly after living away from home for the first time.
It started giving me a lot of discomfort after a few days, I had tried to go a few times about a week in but couldn't when I had opportunities to try. I finally did manage to go when a huge urge to “go” with a little nausea had hit me. It was the largest bm I have had to date, and I did it without an enema.
I was unable to use a bed pan in the hospital so my mother requested the nurse to give me an enema. I then was given another enema at home because I could not go. My mother would give enemas to any person having the problem.
Probably 4 or 5 days when I was a kid.
As crazy as it sounds, approximately 28 days. When I was younger, it was common for me to only have a bowel movement once per week, or once every two weeks. This happened when I was married to my ex-wife (who was strongly against enemas and suppositories). Found out later that one of the medications that I had been put on was notorious for causing constipation. Wound up using the disposable fleets to finally get some relief. Refilled the little bottles with warm soapy water numerous times, until things started moving.
For me it was 5 days, while pregnant. Nerves about the pregnancy shut my bowels down. Thus my sub got to give me enemas until the birth.
Mine is 10 days as a kid. I was ultimately given an enema to make it happen. I think 8 or 9 days is the longest as an adult.
When I was in the hospital after heart surgery… not having access to my shower enema attachment that I used daily at home, I got very backed up. Oh, if only it was like years ago when they gave you enemas.
For me I think it was 6 days… I wanted to do a semi-science fair experiment just to see how far I could take it.. well, at 6 days I was stuffed and very uncomfortable… I also was expelling horrible smelling gas. I tried taking ducala. no help there and ended up taking about 6 enemas to relieve my problem. The first ones were quite warm and only about a pint in volume.. the later ones were larger
The summer of 1971 my mother's family got together camping at McClure Pass, Colorado. Three families, 7 cousins, 6 parents and an older great uncle. No running water and only a camp toilet for everyone. I chose not to be family entertainment so I held it for 3 days until finally off to the woods to dig a pit , lean up against a tree and whoosh😀
It's been a long time but I once went 7 days. Very uncomfortable. It took 3 Ivory soap enemas and 2 rinse enemas to finally get back to normal. Won't let that happen again!!
Wasn't Elvis constipated for four months before he died?
I am really glad that I have no story to add to this.
I was just thinking about Elvis going 4 months without pooping and wondered what kind of song that Johnny Cash could have written about that. Does anyone have any ideas?????
I am sure the very longest for myself was a week. I was in traction and on analgesic. With the help of the Nursing Staff and an enema made up of mostly mineral oil I gave birth to a massive load. It was quite a task trying to avoid pins and my body cast.
I think about 4 or 5 days when I had a triple bypass. I lied about having one then waited until I got home. That first one was like trying to shit a brick!
As a boy I always held in my poop when I got the urge to go. I could go days but this always led to me messing my underwear. My mom hated this.
I can remember being at recess sitting in a quiet spot on the playground holding my poop in. I was great at doing that. Most of the time I was able to hold it but sometimes I would stain my undies brown. This I did until I was 12.
My parents tried laxatives and I could even hold the urge to go they gave me. A suppository also did very little to help me go. I would just hold it more. Then my patents tried a fleet enema. The fleet enema caused me to go a little bit but I still could hold it back. Like I said I could hold any urge to go.
My parents and doctor needed to find something that helped me go that I could not hold back. They used the old fashioned enema bag on me. No way I could hold that back. My butt exploded after that type of enema. I remember being on the potty as I tried to hold it but as I tried I lost the battle. I would be on the pot with tears rolling down my face as my behind exploded. There was no way I could hold the effects of a bag enema.
7 days during a work trip…
About six months - Hirschprung's Disease at Birth and had a colostomy until I was six months old.
It was 4 days for me. I was 17 and busted up my leg pretty bad in a motorcycle accident. Laying in a hospital bed and receiving narcotics for the pain resulted in nothing moving. Each evening at bedtime the nurse asked if I had a bowel movement today. The answer was no, and I got a dose of some laxative. After 3 days of laxative with no results the nurse said if no bowel movement by morning she would have to give me an enema.
I was no stranger to enemas, having been giving them to myself since I was about 10, but the thought of a nurse only a few years older than me, and not bad looking, giving me an enema made me nervous. What if I got a huge boner, like I usually did. It turned out to be no issue since when I woke up I had to shit. Never did get an enema before they let me go home.
I think it was 11 days after doing a total clean out of 4-5 enema and not eating much afterwords.
During a spell in hospital nurses asked daily if i had pooped, i truthfully said no, so i got a little cup of laxative , which didnt work, so about 4 days later a more senior nurse asked again, when i said no , she said i will be back in a bit and give you suppositories , woohoo i thought, she was as good as her word, i held them for over an hour, even then i had to strain on the pot, i should have said it didnt work, maybe i might have got an enema…….
Five days, when my mother found out she spanked me for not telling her, then she said needed an oil enema. She brought the bulb over and some olive oil. I got around four bulbs of oil. It was painful. She told me needed to hold for minutes. As was waiting she got the enema bag out and filled it with soapy water. I tried to go, but it barely worked, so she said a couple of suppositories could help. She inserted two of them shoving her finger deep into my butt, Well that worked, then she gave me a soapsuds enema and then a plain water enema, was exhausted and slept through til dinner time.
Around 2 ½ weeks
Perhaps 24 hours. From early childhood and still now I use to poop 2-3 times each day. I remember that I had an episode with difficult pooping around age 4-5, but even then i pooped each day. But I like it that way. Going to toilet to poop and urinate has always been one of the daily pleasures. My frequent toilet visits probably was one reason for a series of internal intimate exams in my childhood, and frequent rectal and genital checks by my parents.
Since it WAS only 4 days, not 7+ I waited the last few days before my son was born. Once we took him home, it is now recommended by most early child development experts that the father spend “skin contact” time with newborns.
I can't say too much because we are not allowed to talk about our children on this forum, suffice it to say that. aside from feedings, he spent the rest of the day with his Dad.
I still could not use any oral laxatives because most of them CAN affect the breast milk. That meant forget 3-4 rounds and just keep going!
About 5 days…..within the last few months. That was when I first broke down and administered them to myself.
