Longest time you went without pooping

About 5 days then used enema and had a very big poo which hurt coming out.was even sore sitting down in my poppy nappy afterwards.

@Nappyolder When I was a kid, my mom used to tell me not to strain to push out hard feces, since this could damage my rectum and anus. Her option was to give a glycerin suppository and tell me to leave time for it to “work”, meaning my bowels should be really churning. I think this somewhat softened and lubricated the poop.

This one ought to be very dangerous.

Best I can recall, a few days. Since I'm aging, I am very careful about constipation, which in us “oldies” can easily turn into a fecal impaction, which causes all kinds of problems. In another thread, I said that I take 1-5 enemas per week, but not all of those are real “colon cleanses”--often just enough to get things moving. I prefer 2-3X per week as a full series with the bag, just to make sure I don't get really stopped up, but that's not always possible. Despite docs saying “There's no such thing as autointoxication,” I have yet to see a good study on that subject, so I'm not interested in being a test case. I believe we would all be healthier with at least several enemas per month, although the ideal I think should be at least 2X per week. As usual, YMMV…

My longest time was a little more than a week. I was on holiday and wasn't drinking enough water. I felt every inch of that brown log as it came out. I strained so hard that white cum came out of my willy, I kid you not. Possibly from the turd pushing on my prostate through the rectal wall. But it was in no way pleasurable… when I wiped, the toilet paper came away bright red with blood. My butthole was sore, itching and exuding for a couple of days. Never again… I carry a bottle of water with me whenever I'm out for a lengthy period.

It was probably a little over a week. I was in the hospital, and painkillers plugged me up. I was unable to get out of bed. I felt ok most of time, by towards the end of the week, not so much. I started having bellyache. The nurse asked if I had a bm & I told her that I hadn't had one since I got there. She put in a suppository and put me on a bed pan. It mad the bellyach worse. There's something about my internal plumbing that prevents me from pooping while laying down. She came back in a half hr or so to check on me but no joy. I told her I couldn't poop on a bed pan & she said no problem. She came back with a little enema bag and said I just needed to be oiled up. She hung the bag and put the nozzle in. Said she would be back in a half hr. When she came back, the bag was still full. She released the little clamp all the way and stood there and watched the bag. It was running in v-e-r-y slowly so she left and came back in another half hr. At that point, it had only dropped by half. She left again. I didn't see her for an hour... said she got busy. The bag was noy empty, but I still didn't have to poop. She said it was only mineral and wouldn't make me poop. She pulled the nozzle out and told me not to poop while it softened things up . She came back after awhile and told me to try and poop while she stood there. Nothing. I was not able to push hard enough in the laying position. She came back with another bag half full of a brown solution. Said it was milk & molasses, and it would get me going. I knew nothing about what that was at the time, but it worked. I cramped up bad and had no choice but to poop. I still had to push hard because of my position. I'm surprised I didn't get a hernia or something worse. I used 2 more bed pans over a span of 45 min, and then was put on a third just in case.

I sure hope I never have that happen again.

I'm surprised those that claim 2 weeks or more without a bm didn't require bowel obstruction surgery.

As a kid my mother was obsessed with daily bowel movements. Many times we would get a spoonful of Castoria or a handful of prunes after breakfast with predictable mid-morning results. If not (and she monitored) there was no hesitation on her part to get out the bulb or bag.

As an adult the longest I went was 3 days. In the hospital and all very matter of fact. On the morning of the third day with no bm's, enemas were administered after breakfast, before visiting hours. This was back in the early seventies. Soapy bag enemas too, not those little Fleets.

Today I generally cleanse every other day before my morning shower.

When growing up and was probably 5-6 days. It was the only time when my mother gave me a full bag soapy enema and to be sure after I expelled that one she gave me another. Not sure I needed that second one, but I sure got cleaned out.

I went 5 days without a BM as a child. Mom figured it out and I got a hot, very soapy enema, made to hold until I couldn't any longer. Very effective. The only other time was as an adult, we were traveling and I inadvertently held it for 5 days. I asked my wife to help me out. I prepared a very warm Ivory soap enema which she administered. I again held it as long as possible. That was explosive. She gave me another one of the same type. She followed up with 2) 2 qt rinse enemas. Finally, I felt normal again. Since that last episode, I try to maintain a ‘normal - for me’ schedule. Any concerns and out comes the bag.

2 weeks. I had an enema for relief. The expulsion was very explosive and everything came out in a few violent waves.

About 4 days.

I can't remember any more than three or four days without having a bowel movement. If I am eating pretty normal, after two or three days I feel really “shitty” and get out the bag for relief. I think one time, years ago, I had some type of flu and just laid around eating very little and drinking mostly fluids. On the fourth day I still did not feel like I should go, I gave myself a good enema just to flush everything and start over. Maybe coincidence, but that is when I started feeling human again. Lately, after two days, the bag is in use. I don't wait to be constipated.

I was just thinking about this , this morning… I went Friday afternoon haven’t been again not like me to not go everyday like clockwork .. I have gas and starting to get little uncomfortable tried more fiber rich foods .. no luck yet someone told me to try chic seeds and water ..

Really, who counts. You feel like you need a dump but can't go is you first thought, “How long has it been?” Grab a bag and GO!!!!!!

Probably 5 days. It was a long time ago and I was pregnant with our daughter.

I went for 7 days as I went to Florida for my mother's funeral. I couldn't wait to get back to give myself a nice enema. 7 days a long time.

It was 5 days in the Fall of 2021. When I got home I told my wife about it and just said I was going to take some enemas. She didn't say anything against me doing that. I did take several enemas that day and several more enemas the next day, too. Of course she would never help me by giving me the enemas, so I was in the bathroom floor and had trouble holding the water as well as trouble getting up off the floor, too. It wasn't a great enema session as I could not get more than a quart of water in me and had trouble leaking some. It would have been great if she had given me the enemas on the bed and all I would have had to do is concentrate on holding it. A nice enema with a double balloon nozzle would have really been helpful. Maybe in another life…

Close to 9 days

When I was growing up my Mom always kept a close check on my bowel movements. If I didn't go on any given day she would give me a laxative at bedtime to force me to go the next morning. As an adult I have gone maybe 3 days without a movement but then I feel uncomfortable and take a laxative, use a suppository or take an enema to get things moving again.

As kids mom, grandma, or our aunts never let us go more than three or four days without having a BM. The evening of the third or fourth day without a BM we got a soapy, then a salt and baking soda rinse enema. If we were at home, mom gave the three of us enemas laying across our bed together, and it didn’t matter which one of us hadn’t gone, we all got enemas. At grandmas it was one on one, if she gave us the enemas. However, if she told one of moms sisters to do the enemas at bath time, it was like at home, we all three got enemas together in the bathroom. I’ve followed the same rule of thumb as an adult and to the best of my knowledge, so have my siblings.

Adding to my first comment: In March, shortly after I posted my original comment here I fell, right on my right buttcheek, and I could feel intense pain going up through my spine and along my right side. I almost couldn't get up. I managed to get to bed, dosed up on NSAIDS and slept some. Over the course of the next couple weeks or so, I experienced constipation as never before--3 days, 4 days in between BM's and rock-hard bowel movements that were up to 1.5X their normal diameter. Of course, sitting down was tough as well, so toilet time was attended by lots of exquisite pain. I couldn't do an enema to get real relief, and the NSAIDS made everything worse. I'm better now (lots of chiropractic visits) and back to movement without pain, but I won't soon forget spring of 2022. First COVID, then this. UGH.

Almost a week when I was a kid…hated enemas. Grandma was a fan but I wasn't. But for some reason I did like suppositories…🤷🏽‍♀️

(reply to gboy) When choosing a remedy to relieve your constipation what is your thought process to decide? “take a laxative, use a suppository or take an enema to get things moving again”

(reply to KennyT) I take a laxative if I'm not going out the next day because the results can be unpredictable with numerous sudden strong urges throughout the day. If I am going out I'll use a suppository first thing in the morning and if that doesn't work I'll take an enema later in the day once I'm home.

I was probably 11 or 12 and it was just about the time that I no longer got enemas over mom's lap, but instead she would put a big bath towel over the edge of the bathtub and I'd lie over it with my butt in the air.
