I was asked once by the pediatrician in front of my mom and little brother if I had starting having wet dreams yet. Naive as I was, I thought he was asking if I was wetting the bed which I thought odd considering I was almost 13. Oh how little I knew back then.
Mine was something similar. My pediatrician typically would talk only to my mom about anything medical, limiting questions for me to things like what grade I was in, my favorite subject, and whether I liked school. When I was 14, and he had pulled down my undies for the genital exam, he asked my mom if I had started having nocturnal emissions yet, and she said no. He said not to worry, since I was a late bloomer only getting started and was at Stage 2 of puberty. I had no idea what any of that meant. I had just started my freshman year health class a couple of weeks earlier, with sex ed not happening until months later, but I already had the textbook, so I looked it up when I got home.
The same thing happened at 15, and when she said no, he replied that I was at Stage 3, so don't be surprised if I start having them soon.
Same drill at 16, except when he pulled down my undies, and they saw basically my fully grown penis with quite a bit of pubic hair, he pivoted to talking to me directly. He said I was at Stage 4 of puberty, so he had some questions for me. First, he asked if I had started ejaculating semen, and I said yes. He then asked when that had started, and I said a few months earlier. Finally, he asked if it happened while I was awake or asleep, and I said awake, basically admitting to them that I finally had learned how to masturbate to ejaculation three months before I turned 16. He also looked over to my mom, and she nodded yes, so I guess I was not keeping that secret as well as I had thought. But he seemed satisfied with my answers and pulled my undies back up.
That was my last visit to that pediatrician and the last time my mom attended my physical exam.
