On (Kinky) Medical Education

So - I have an idea.

What if we created an online 'course' designed to educate playdocs/playnurses in Medfet topics? So many of us come to the site wanting to explore medfet, but few of us are trained medical professionals. What if we build a way for those who are not to learn (some of) the knowledge that the professionals enjoy by nature, in a safe, healthy, and interesting way? As an former EMT/ERT/CNA I've enjoyed some professional training, and had many wonderful people here who are professionals help me learn what I haven't learned professionally. But what if we made a way to share that learning with everyone?

The course could cover stuff like:

- Basic A&P, particularly focused on medfet areas of interest

- Basic medical terminology

- Basic pathology, particularly as it is interesting from a role-play scene.

- Safety, Aseptic/Sterility, PPE, etc

- Basic procedures, their indications/contraindications, equipment use, cleaning, prep, etc.

- What NOT to attempt - and why

- Other Medically interesting topics

In addition, it would cover stuff like:

- RACK/SSC/Consent in general

- Etiquette

- Effective Role-Play

- Basics of equipment needs, etc

- BDSM-oriented safety issues (restraints, advanced procedures and the like)

It would be written with an understanding of using it in Medfer play, and be based on real-world practice. The info would be detailed, curated for effective presentation, and accurate.

We could do it truly course style, with tests and stuff, and at the end, successful completion would result in a (rather worthless, but still interesting) certificate. Completed members could put that info on their profile, letting others know that they have, at least in theory, some idea what they are talking about for play.

I could be built in segments and expanded constantly, adding new curated material as we can get to it.

Most of this info is spread across the forum, over probably millions of posts - but that would take years and years to read - this would be designed to be completed with relative quickness, but impart a great deal of essential knowledge which would allow readers to play safely and effectively, as well as be more informed and interested members of the community.

I'm happy to write some of this and help build and curate it - is there any interest in such a project from membership here? If we build it, will they cum (sorry, I had to)?

I personally like this idea, and would be willing to help out where I can.

Even if it wasn't done as a course, having each topic clearly labeled would make a search for info easier.

I would also be happy to contribute, but my expertise is in burns and wound healing and I have yet to meet a zity member who embraced such an area for Medfet ... lol

Excellent - We will need that help. I speak French, but poorly - ask @arthur....or my recent visit to Montreal, where I embarrassed myself.

I’ll be a test subject! I mean on the material you want to teach!! LOL Seriously, I would likewise learn how to do things both in a way to thrill and tantalize. I mean we have some wonderful toys that I just am not quite sure what to do with them other than stick them in a hole and open them up. If there was a way to safely be more naughty or other (ahem) ideas of what should be done in a guys exam, I would love to learn! Use me (that sounds bad but you know what I mean!! LOL)!

Trying not to be Johnny Raincloud here but my only question is that if someone here does an online course and then someone tries it in RL and somehow injures someone because they did it wrong or are stupid how do we protect the instructors or authors from being sued. The fact that it is a kink site definitely helps some but is it enough? Maybe a lawyer or two should chime in. Maybe some type of disclaimer?

That thought crossed my mind too. Perhaps we should somehow sign some sort of disclaimer or something legal, so that no one does get sued....but how to do it and maintain our anonymity?

First, I think that this is a great idea and with mediums like Zoom, Skype and Hangouts it could be done properly and well. The most effective way would be for the "students" to work in pairs whenever that would be possible.

A member did bring up the liability issue, and although it is minimized in some ways by the nature of the site, a simple statement such as, "Any instruction given is not to be construed as medical training or advice. It is given based on personal experiences and not as professional training. The persons participating recognize that they do so of their own free will and do not consider same in any way medical training, diagnosis, treatment, consultation or advice, and use same at their own risk and responsibility, releasing all other participants from any and all liability real and, or implied". That should cover it!

Count me in and I will gladly give what time I can to insure that we all ...

I think this is as excellent idea - I sometimes cringe at things I read on here, but not being medically trained don't feel appropriate to reply (even when common-sense suggests it's not very sensible)!. As I only have very basic training (First Aid), I'm not sure that I would be able to contribute anything, but would definitely like to read anything put together. I think we can all learn to play safely and gain from other's experiences.

I've looked for medical fetish clinics and I believe there are some in the US, but alot of them have bdsm elements which I would NOT want. Firmness is good just not to the extent of being restrained I think. Firm and gentle and encouraging.

@caresabouthealth Megan, you are right. By itself, medical fetish might not have a big enough clientele. So, there has to be some BDSM overlap. But wouldn't such a clinic come up with something catered to your needs. Warmly

I figure some of us will be focused on the web development and others on the content and structure, so we'll need a place we can keep things organized while we're building.

I do think that many would like to learn more about medical and related things.

Not sure the best way to set it up, but it could have sections.

Like ears, eyes, mouth- head neck- chest. Then other sections for procedures like catheter insertion, enemas, Pap smear. Etc....

I know each facility has a slightly different process for each procedure.

Sometimes it varied because of the different suppliers, or standard items they use.

In some areas my “testbook” Traning has been motified to suit the facility care manual.

Would be glad to assist also.

Personally, I use Trello + Google Docs for project management.

I think there is enough interest in this to make it viable. Let me see what I can come up with. Some time ago I started a course-creation engine that was created to compete with stuff like Thinkific. I never completed the project, but perhaps this is the motivation I needed to do so....

There are a few such places in the UK but they are very much BDSM based. One I know of has a gyn examination couch but it is situated in the shower of all places, so just an afterthought really. The main point though is that places like these do not generally offer a service, you just go there with your boyfriend or play doctor and use their facilities.
