I was thinking should I reply or not... But here it goes, my 50 cents.
(hoping not to start a heated discussion, then I will pull out)
Sex is great and fun, but shouldn't be the reason to transition. Being "male" at first does give you an overdosis on testosterone, hence the sexual desires. Thinking if I was a female I will do everything I like to do to a woman, or things my wife doesn't do, etc. Your sex drive will greatly diminish when you start HRT. If you are not trans, or have strong female desires, transitioning isn't for you. There are of course alternatives, cross dressing, social transitioning etc. Also not everyone is able to start HRT or have surgery due to health and/or cost.
Not to mention possibly losing loved ones, jobs and housing.
Now you can't just get one thing only (for example breast tissue), no you will get the entire package once on HRT. Next to the growth of breast tissue, you will get lots of changes, softer skin, less body hair growth and softer hair, body odor (sweat), sensing of odor (smell), hot flashes, emotional. And you will loose up to 30% strength, loose your sperm, shrink your testicles and loose your spontaneous erections.
I have been lucky to go on HRT and have genital reconstructive surgery. I will be paying the bank for the next 6 more years, but to me it's worth it. HRT and surgery can come with risks. I have friends who developed cancer and blood clogs, most likely due to HRT and/or surgery.
I am glad to be able to live my life in my "new" body. Knowing something wasn't right since I was 8, eventually accepting myself and deciding to transition. The decision to come out and start my transitioning I did after already being a member on Zitty, hence various old posts are still under my old male identity.
If someone isn't sure about which path to follow, please see a gender therapist to make the right move.
