Mom and first exam

You have been examined in front of your mom? She see you naked? Would you rather be alone with gynie?

I can't imagine that, embarassing and even more. As teenager been nude in front of mom, totaly crazy ! Hey mom wtf ! Stop to think about that

No. My mom was with me on every GP doctor visit until I was 18 and then she said “You're old enough to go yourself.” My first gynocological exam was when I arrived on campus my first year of college. Some girls were talking about it so I realized that I should go. My mom never discussed it but then very little such talk occurred in my home growing up. Very Puritan parents.

I know my mother went with my sister into the exam room, she told me about later that evening and likewise with our own two their mom toom them to her dr.

I had missed my periods for the first time- two years back. Extreme stress induced.

Mom scheduled my appointment with gynec in our neighborhood. Her job done. I was on my own.

How was your exam? Do you still have this gynecologist?

The exam was normal. But I was tensed down there as per doctor.

No I don't have this gynec anymore now.

I didn't need a real gynec exam after that anyways. I missed periods once more. But I got over it on my own

My older sister went with me to my first exam. We had the examination in the same room.

I had my first exam recently, and I went by myself because my mother is not comforting. I was really nervous, but I feel like her being there would’ve made it worse.

I didn't have a parent at my first exam, but my office has a mandatory chaperone policy. I wish they didn't- I wouldn't mind as much if I was young and had a parent in the room, but as an adult it's strange to have a random nurse come in and watch as I receive breast and pelvic exams. Especially since it's not the same nurse that brings me in and has me undress- the doctor just opens the door a crack and asks for whoever is available. It's especially strange because they stand at an angle where they can't even really see anything besides my face and one breast when my doctor stands on the other side of the chair and uncovers it for the exam. It feels awkward and pointless.

My mom offered for my first exam, I made her wait in the waiting room. As an adult after a lot of trauma (medically, sexually and after experiencing multiple pregnancy losses) I have wished someone would go with me. I wouldn’t choose my mom.. we just don’t have that kind of relationship. But I have some really close friends who are like older sisters/ moms to me I would ask if they were physically closer. For my most recent experiences (TV ultrasound, pelvic exam, MVA procedure and another pelvic a few days later) I had my doula on the phone with me helping me get through it. Wish she could have been in the room with me.

My mom took me to my first gynecologist appointment at 17. She stayed in the waiting room during my actual exam and I was very glad she did 😋

I am very fortunate that my mom took me to watch her own gyno exams starting when I was 12. That way I got to meet the gyno and ask any questions and get over the shock before it was my turn to be on the stirrups. When I went for the first time at 14 I had my mom wait outside and I'm glad I did. I was alone with the gyno but it was not a bad experience.
