Normally, the nurse escorts me back to the exam room. On the way she maybe stops at the scale in the hall to take the height and weight. Once in the room she goes over the basics and askes questions. She takes the rest of the vitals and advises if the doctor wants to retake e.g. high blood pressure etc. Then the verbiage " take everything off except your underwear and the doc will be here in a moment."
I did have a situation which I posted in a different thread about an extremally long office visit at a past Dr. office.
I had moved to a new city and been seeing this doctor for about 3 visits regarding medications and just general health issues. Upon making a fourth visit the nurse advised I needed to get a complete physical.
I arrived about 30 minutes early since I was advised to fill out paperwork for the exam. Filled out and then the nurse brought me back to the exam room. We did the vitals as usual but, she advised
"Dr. Frankel is running behind" as he had several patients today since he was not in the office yesterday.
Not an issue as I was off work anyway. I was advised to have a seat on the table and wait.
She did not ask me to undress or offer a gown, which I normally don't take anyway.
About 15 to 20 minutes go by and I am thinking did he forget about me?
Another 10 minutes go by and I get the knock at the door.
"Hey Robert, sorry to be this late. I have had a lot of questions and time consuming visits".
Not an issue Dr. Frankel, the nurse said you were off yesterday and I should expect some wait time.
I see you are hear for a physical? How long has it been since your last physical?
About 3 years or so.
Ok, well, since I am running behind, let me look over the notes and just strip down to your underwear.
Got off the table and started to take off my shirt, and then shoes and socks.
Dr. looks up and then looks at his watch.
"Wow, I am running behind."
"Robert, just strip off everything to save time."
He stood up and I removed my jeans and underwear and go back on the table.
