And to claim that masturbation is harmful? Did this female doctor go to an accredited medical school, or did she attend the school of hard knocks? I
Actually, many many doctors throughout history have very publicly - and successfully - claimed that masturbation is harmful and can lead to debilitating diseases and conditions, even up to death.
The doctor who started the notion, was an 18th century Swiss physician of great distinction: Dr. Samuel-Auguste Tissot. He wrote one or two best-selling and very influential books and treatises on his notions. These works spread his ideas on masturbation throughout Europe and later the US, starting in the mid-18th century. He was an interesting figure for historical reasons, but from our perspective a nutcase ultimately. Yet he was renowned and respected during his lifetime, holding distinguished posts and titles and publishing works to great acclaim and influence in society.

And to keep the list of doctors claiming masturbation was very harmful, short and not overly lengthy, let us not forget Dr. John Harvey Kellogg who probably influenced Americans most of all with his decidedly unscientific and ridiculous notions on masturbation.
Sad to say, but probably after religious leaders, medical doctors are most to blame for people erroneously believing that masturbation is actually physically harmful.
The doctor in question on this thread, most likely did go to an accredited medical school and learned the accepted nonsense ideas on masturbation that were considered valid at the time.
