Recently I underwent a USG for my long time stomach ailment. The USG was normal but the experience was weird.
I had gone with my mom for the USG. I was called inside the exam room and mom was asked to wait outside. Fair enough. There was a nurse in the room. I handed over my prescription card to her and lied down on the exam table. I had lifted my shirt till my chest and loosened my trousers as I knew from my previous experiences.
The nurse did not see all this as she was noting something down from the prescription.
Then the radiologist entered. I was surprised to see a lady but didn't bother much as the pain was more bothersome.
Then she said something to the nurse which shocked me.
She said "you didn't ask him to take off his shirt and lower the trouser." Then turning to me she said "Please do it" I was like "What!!... And why is that required at all"
She said "yours is a complete USG and the gel will spoil your shirt and pantd all hence we advise the patients to take off the shirt."
That sounded logical to me. Anyway this was only my second time. First time I actuallu had a tough time removing the spilled gel from my shirt and pants. So I agreed.
I took off my shirt. Then was told "vest also please". So I was topless for the USG. The nurse asked me to lower my trousers till my thighs. Now lying like this in front of two ladies was weird. Though nurse put a blanket covering my underwear. Atleast some modesty was restored.
The radiologist did the procedure but she had me turn on my left and right amid the test. So by the end of the test my trousers had actually reached my knees when the blanket was removed by the nurse.
At the end of the exam the nurse told me to stay as I was while the radiologist went out to inform my mom about the result. We were told that the USG had to be reconducted on advanced machine as they had some doubt.
So after the radiologist was back in the room. I was asked to lie down on the wheeled bed that was brought in and I was taken to another similar room through the corridor in full view of everyone. And I was lying on the bed still topless but the blanket thankfully covered me below waist.
In the second room also the same procedure was repeated. Strangely I did not find any difference between the machines.
But whatever happened, at the end the radiologist said that she had a doubt about cyst in pancreas but that is ruled out. When the nurse was cleaning the gel from my abdomen and near my underwear waistband then the radiologist said "See that's why we ask to remove clothing."
Then I was brought back to the first room where I wore my clothes properly and then we left.
I found this experience a little unusual. Because as i said this was only my second time. Did anyone else felt the same? If yes please share your thoughts.
Also has anyone felt in any of the procedure you may have undergone that removal of certain part of clothing was not required?
