When you were growing up, where was the enema syringe kept? I have read of those that were hanging on bathroom doors, possibly even on hooks in the wall near the toilet, or were things more discreet so to speak, in your home?. Was it perhaps stored in a linen cupboard which you might see (with dread or desire) from time to time, and were you aware of it being taken out for imminent use?.
Where do you keep your enema equipment now- any touch point with your history?.
When I grew up the Higginson was kept in an oilcloth bag, inside a box, in a cupboard in the passage between the bathroom and the separate loo. For some reason I never fathomed my Mum kept the cupboard locked. The announcement that an enema was going to be administered was aleays made before the device was brought out of the cupboard to do its duty.
Today, our Higginson simply lives in a zippered sponge bag in the vanity.
