I normally don't post negative reviews, but I've finally reached breaking point.
I've started wetting the bed, and, having had good experiences with Bambino Bellissimos, I went to buy some more to wear at night. My local reseller was out, so I bought some Teddys instead - these were my first Teddys. I ended up going through two packs in total (one was free), and this is what I experienced.
1. The tape adhesive degrades really fast with age. I know this because I miscounted the number of diapers I'd used and didn't find my last two Teddys for a month. The tapes were noticeably less sticky - one tape failed completely on each diaper (which is a different story), but of the three that didn't fail completely, all were noticeably less sticky the first time I pulled them away, and as expected, even less sticky any successive times.
2. As it degrades - or possibly just in general - or a batch-related issue - the adhesive becomes really sensitive to contaminants. I was changing into the first of my last two diapers. I use baby lotion and powder when I change. Already knowing about Bambinos being sensitive to contaminants even under optimal circumstances, I was very careful to wipe off my hand between applying lotion and powder and taping up. After wiping off, I made sure my hands were dry. Apparently it didn't work - I touched the landing zone with my fingertip while adjusting the fit, and the trace contaminant must have gotten onto the tape, because it wouldn't stick. At all. Like it wouldn't stay down even when down was the direction of gravity.
It got even more ridiculous with the second diaper, though - I had to change in an un-air-conditioned area, and it's spring here in Australia so it tends to hover around the high nineties Fahrenheit. I was sweating while I was changing. Again, I wiped my hand dry - as much as I could when all I had to wipe it on was my damp clothing, but the fact is that there were no droplets on my fingers, and they were dry enough that I could get friction between them. Still no go. I touched the landing zone with my hand, and it killed the adhesive pretty effectively, too.
3. The cut is wrong. I can get a comfortable, snug fit on the lower tapes without having to stretch, but I have not had a single comfortably tight pair of upper tapes in all the time that I've been wearing Teddys, and I wear diapers full-time so I'm not inexperienced at getting tight upper tapes.
4. The cover build quality is noticeably not good. I had an incident where I was wetting and I watched a droplet form ON THE DIAPER - it was on the upper front, just under the pattern strip, and I know it didn't come out of the legs or waist, and it wasn't sweat - it was pee coming out of the diaper through a pinhole.
5. Teddys seem to be wildly inconsistent in absorbency. I have some control of my conscious wetting, and I know for a fact that I've put a lot less liquid into some than others and still had a saturation leak.
Quite frankly, I have been kind of put off Bambinos. I just thought these were things people should know about.
