I'm an AB/DL, and wear diapers because I like them, and enjoy it. I don't have any medical need, just to be clear.
Cloth is my first choice, because that's what I grew up with, but I do like and use disposables.
It usually depends on my mood what kind of diaper I will put on, or how thick I will make it.
I like flat fold diapers first and foremost, I like the bulk they give in between my legs. And that's what was most popular back in the heyday of cloth diapers too. I do like to be able to feel pretty well diapered when I wear them, meaning thick. But there is a line you can pass on how thick you make your diapers, my feeling. I don't like to go so far, as to make them so thick it would be unrealistic. Some people do like that, not me is all. I like to use layers to make my diapers thick, or add stuffers. That way, they can wash up easier, and dry much better.
I have all manner of cloth diapers to choose from. Over the years, I've collected many different types. Pull on, snap on, flat and contoured, pin on, Velcro, rectangles, squares, terry cloth, you get the picture.
I like to try different things, and experience what it feels like.
Sometimes I like to wear couture diapers with stuffers, so it makes my crouch and bum really puff out under my plastic pants. And other times I will do the same with rectangle diapers, so I get an all around fat diaper under my plastic pants.
Sometimes, I will wear a diaper based on how it looks under a baby outfit.
