I started at a new Primary Care Group Practice. I was filling out the forms and I missed a question (actually I missed more than one question, but this is the only one worth mentioning here) that asks, "Doctor's Gender Preference" and the choices were, Male, Female, No preference. When I handed the forms back in the receptionist quickly looked it over and saw I missed that questions and innocently asked, "So no preference for doctor's gender?" I jokingly said, "Well, I prefer females,"
She gave me a nasty look and said, "I will put down no preference"
Now I was joking, but it did make me think. If you were a male, I assume they would expect you to say either male or no preference and if you were female they would expect you to say female or no preference.
Has anyone ever had a similar opportunity and did you ever put down your preference as the opposite sex? Was your request honored or did they give you dirty looks?
