You've obviously not found the right pheromones then!
My boyfriend can go a few days without showering and I won't notice (by notice I mean like a sweat smell because there isn't one). Usually his natural scent is amplified. And I'm not talking sweat, because that is gross. No one wants "I just got home from a 6 hour intense workout" ball sack smell. Just his natural pheromones mixed in with the waning scent of his cologne. Men in most cases, unless they are doing intense things can get away without showering for a few days especially in the winter. The summer not so much, luckily we have a "you stink take a shower or I won't touch you" system for that. We're cute like that. Either way scent is important for attraction. I personally like to keep showered and will do so daily though.
Whether you're attracted to clean scents, natural scents, or you like 'em dirty. To each their own really, we're all perverts at the end of the day! π
Oh and here's a thing to read about arousal and scents. π

Not found them? They are supposedly there on the person. I'm certainly attracted to my husband and he showers daily. That's not to say there aren't times during the summer when we'll come inside all dirty and sweaty fuck each others brains our, but that's much less frequent than coming in, jumping in the shower and then fucking our brains out. We know we are attracted to each other. Maybe pheromones are important to initiate the first time with a sex partner, but not once you're experienced with them.
I downloaded the 33 page article but don't have time to read all that, but I did read the abstract in your link which actually appeared to DOWNPLAY the importance of pheromones and smells.
THE ARTICLE IS ALSO VERY SUSPECT IN ITS QUALITY AS THERE ISN'T A SINGLE PIECE OF NUMERICAL DATA IN THE WHOLE THING WHICH IS TYPICAL OF SOCIAL RESEARCH, NON-PEER REVIEWED ARTICLES. THAT'S A SIGN OF SOMETHING THAT NEEDED TO BE PUBLISHED BUT LACKED ANY REAL, VERIFIABLE INFORMATION.,
