I'll start by saying that I'm 86 and totally "enema dependent". Monday, I awoke with gut pains and since I've had some serious gut surgeries, decided that I'd better be seen. Tuesday got in at 0920 PDT, Dr examined...then X-rays. After looking at the X-rays decided to send me downtown for a Cat-scan. After that procedure, sent me over to the ER to determine treatment.
It turned out that I was having a 'diverticula' attack, complicated by a microscopic leak into the peritoneum. I talked them into letting me go home at 1930 PDT. Heavy duty meds, trying to cure and close the very small leaking hole. For the next 10 days no alcohol (pot's okay), and limited to one qt. 'low pressure' enemas every other day to prevent constipation.
BTW, I can still have sex every Saturday morning (without pills). I have a lovely, 79 year old wife (former Veterinary Nurse) that takes very good care of me.
I'm praying that the treatment works since I've "been there" in 2006, with a burst diverticula that required emergency surgery and left me with a colostomy for three months....another surgery 3 months later to do repairs, moving the colostomy up into the small intestine....three months later hooking me back up making me a complete asshole again.
Ah yass….life can be good.
