For the last six months, every night before bed I perform the same routine ...
1. Insert a foley catheter and inflate the balloon in my bladder to secure it.
2. Take one disposable diaper, make many cuts in the outer plastic layer and then put it on.
3. Take a second disposable diaper, put it on over the top of the first diaper for double absorbency.
4. Pull on a pair of plastic pants over everything to prevent leaks when I fall asleep.
5. Drink several tall glasses of water, probably the equivalent of 2 liters.
6. Take my meds, plus two sleeping pills.
7. Sit down on the couch, drinking diet coke and surf the web (which is where I am now).
8. Consume 4 or 5 cans of diet coke, wetting uncontrollably, eventually getting so groggy I need to put away my laptop and lie down.
9. Fall asleep until about half-way through the night.
10. Wake up in a flooded diaper, thankful that I was wearing the plastic pants to prevent leaks because the double-diaper is over capacity.
11. Change into a new double-diaper which lasts until morning.
12. Wake up for the day, remove diapers and catheter, shower, go to work, come home at the end-of-day and do it all over again.
