(Joining this conversation a bit late, but whatever!)
I'm a big fan of the Changing Times twill prefolds (same specs and manufacturer as the Rearz prefolds, for you Canadians). They're made just like the ubiquitous twill baby prefolds, except that the center panel is ten-ply instead of eight. Honestly, I'd be fine with eight layers, but ten feels nice. 😃 The Baby Pants twill prefolds have an eight-ply soaker and are also fantastic, but they fall just a *tiny* bit short on my scale because they're stitched all the way around rather than being folded on the sides. They're cute but not particularly authentic, for those of you who like to measure your diapers against the baby kind.
Both the Changing Times (Rearz) and Baby Pants twill prefolds have a more squarish shape, which again mimics the design of modern baby prefolds -- which is great! Less length to fold in if they're too long. I have gauze prefolds from both AdultClothDiaper.com and Angel Fluff, and they're perfectly functional, but I find the stock sizes to be too long and narrow. Long and narrow prefolds are a relic of the one-size-fits-all baby prefold days. The advantage of these latter two companies is that they will do custom sizing for a little more money. The disadvantage of that is that they're already far more expensive than Changing Times, Rearz, and Baby Pants.
LL Medico and KINS (Babykins) sell prefolds also, but theirs are flannel. Just my opinion, but flannel sucks as a diaper fabric. Really, the only thing it's got going for it is that it's super cheap and available in prints. (Though, ironically, the LL Medico prefolds are some of the most expensive out there!) There's a reason that the only flannel baby prefolds you'll find are marketed as novelty burp cloths! I have a few KINS prefolds, and I almost never use them. They absorb more slowly than the others and are harder to use with Snappis and Boingos (non-pin fasteners) because of the tighter weave.
TL😁R: I mostly use the Changing Times prefolds and Gary 4-mil vinyl pants. I also find that the leg-to-waist ratio of the Gary pants sold through Changing Times is more favorable to younger, active folks than that of many other pants.
IMO!
