If you haven't tried cloth diapers, you don't know what you're missing! Yes, they are a bit more work as far as cleaning them up, but worth it.
To put a cloth diaper on works pretty much the same as a disposable. There are all kinds of cloth diapers to be had, but basically there is the old style where you need, diaper or safety pins to fasten them, and there are cloth diapers with Velcro for easy fasting. The Velcro can be a pain in the wash. To fasten with pins you just bring the ends of the diaper together like you would your disposables, then just stick the pin through both sides of the cloth till it comes out again, then click the end of the pin back into the head of the pin, you're done!
Cleaning a cloth diaper in no different then cleaning the rest of your laundry. The only thing you need to take care of is, if you mess in a cloth diaper you need to dump the mess out into the toilet bowl before washing in the laundry.
As far as cloth diapers leaking, you will need a pair of plastic pants to cover the cloth diaper. This will keep the wetness inside. And as long as you don't over wet the diaper, it won't leak. Any diaper needs to be changed before it's soaked beyond what it is designed to hold.
I hope this will help you out, and I hope you give cloth diapers a try.
PS. You can also get cloth diapers with snaps for fasting, built in to the sides.
