Age and enema volume

For years I used a 2 quart bag, never tried to see just how much I could hold. My main bag is a 4 quart Klystra. A while back I filled it to four quarts, I was able to take it but it was uncomfortable. I'm 72, weigh 140 pounds, have been that weight since high school. For me, two quarts is a good number.

Good for you. Enjoy yourself at 2 quarts, which was my preferred enjoyable volume for enema satisfaction and sexual arousal for many years if not decades. I still enjoy orgasming at that volume very much - great orgasm and easier to control than 3-4 quarts. Win-win.

I was 13 years old when I was given my first cleansing enema, and it was a full 2 quarts of water with an ounce of Ivory liquid soap mixed in. It was very difficult to take and hold, as I hadn't pooped in three days.

Enemas, given for legit medical reasons, should not be a contest to see how much a person can hold or how much discomfort they can endure. It's apparent that many moms in years gone by didn't understand this. The typical bags held 2 quarts, or sometime even three or more, so that is what they used. I actually find it a bit odd that many vintage bags came with an "Infant" rectal nozzle, in addition to an adult rectal and douche nozzles. Who in their right mind would use a 2 quart bag to make an infant poo? An ounce or two works just fine.

Mighty enemas are not needed just to make an adult poo either. One or two 8 oz adult bulb syringe fulls of warm water, retained, will almost always bring a complete poo within an hour, even in somebody that has not gone in several days. Don't believe me? Try it and see.

There are a couple of reasons to take larger volumes. One is to completely empty someone's colon, as for a colonoscopy or other exam.

Another is for fun. Some just like the feelings associated with a large fill of water. If you enjoy it, have fun.

My point is simply don't pretend that a monster enema is needed to make the average person poo. If you enjoy the feeling, go for it, but be honest about th reasons.

Just my 2¢ opinion, but after enjoying mostly solo enemas for >50 years, with a goodly number given by my exes plus ~10-20 colonics over the years, to me the whole point of it is the way it feels to you, not the volume anyone else tells you, advertises, recommends or even brags about. I loved 2 quarts for many years until happening upon Zity 5 years ago. 2-2.5 q always felt nicely full and distended and erotic and had no trouble inducing or improving the quality of my orgasms. Even so, I was always curious about whether more volume might be even more fun and erotic and feel even better. I read and inquired a lot on Zity these last 5 years and as a result gradually worked my way up to taking 4 quarts routinely with a long hold time to enjoy the internal pressure and outward belly distention. One single time I semi-accidentally went up to 5 quarts with no problems and enjoyed that too with no ill effects.

But my tolerable or desirable volume on any given day can be very variable based on several factors so sometimes I wind up stopping the flow and orgasming anywhere from 2-4 quarts and it feels extremely satisfying. Since I enjoy volume and distention greatly, I do admit that I'm curious about trying 5 q again or even slowly inching up to try 6 after reading posts by a few members who I believe are not exaggerating their reports, but I also have no burning need to do so as I'm so satisfied with 4 q or slightly more.

In other words thoroughly enjoy whatever volume and solution and retention and associated sexual activity that feels good to you, without concern about anyone else's opinions or goals. And don't ever make it a competition with anyone except your own feelings and common sense. Have fun and play safe.

I did not get large enemas growing up, probably not much over a quart until I was about twelve and started giving them to myself because I liked them. Then I started reading about enemas in our home health book, and in the library, most of those books led me to believe a normal adult enema was anywhere from one to two quarts. And, most enema bags you bought at the local drugstore or mail-order from Sears held approximately two quarts. So I thought two quarts was the goal. It wasn't until the internet that I found out there were people who needed or wanted much larger enemas.

I tried bigger enemas from time to time but did not find them pleasant. Since I take enemas because I like how they feel, I don't find more than about two and a half quarts to be pleasant. Most times I just take a two quart bag, and repeat as necessary.

I only know for a few reasons. When looking through moms recipe card box for a recipe I found a card that said soap suds enema. I felt a chill down my spine It had two entries first one said 16 oz of Ivory soap water add 16oz of plain tap water after . I saw her make a few up for my sister saw the process but was not aware of the measurements. The second entry said large volume and it was the same recipe but doubled I know when I was 9 it was the large volume because the bag bulged and looked much bigger.

As younger child, i remember my first enema with the bulb syringe, orange with a black tip. I would get 2-4 good squirts of hot soapy water over my moms knees, I got the bulb until 11 in that position. As I older it was definitely 4 or more. She would say, you need to take a bit more so it works and it did every time. The first bag i got looked like a lot, frightening, filled with hot soapy water. It was a two quart open mouth bag, pink with a pink tube and a black tip. I am not sure if it was full, but if I couldn’t take the bag, my mom would stop and then re-start. If I really had to go, then she would let me poop, but I still had to take the remainder of the bag.

I was given, I think, 3 enemas as a child, but I was always (that I can ramember) anal erotic, so I started self-administering when I was 12 or so, with whatever toys I could find. In some cases, it was nothing more than a water balloon with a ballpoint pen tip attached (such a perv!). I now do enemas semi regularly, about 2.5 qts. to finish, after a smaller enema to empty out the rectum. They are erotic and cleansing, both at once. I would still rather give than get, but I very much enjoy enemas till clear from a competent *female.*

I routinely gave myself 2+ quart (full drug store bag) enemas when I was 12. I gave myself two whole bags when I was somewhere between 13-14. I did this standing up. It seemed like I could take more water that way. It was after several previous enemas to get cleaned out.

As I aged, I now find it difficult to TAKE more than 1 quart during an initial enema filling. If I am being GIVEN the enema I can generally tolerate almost an entire bagful - especially if administered with a colon tube. But even after a couple of small fillings to clear the colon, I cannot take a full bag any more.

Yes, I have had something similar. Due to various things, I have not had the freedom to take as many enemas as I used to do.

I used to have little problem taking a 2 - 2.5 quart enema first time in a session, and then taking more than that after.

Now, it seems really hard to get my colon to relax and accept the water. I get STRONG cramps and just explode it out, BETTER be on the pot right away. A few times I have managed to get mostly cleaned out and then take a relaxing enema, and that was a GREAT FEELING, but mostly recent enemas have been mostly frustrating.

Long ago, I used to take a 3 - 3.5 quart soapy enema as the last one of each session, and just LOVED the full, stretched sensation. On a few occasions i could take 4 quarts or slightly more.

When I first started playing with enemas, a bit over a pint was my limit. As I got older, my capacity gradually increased. By the time I was in my late teens, I was comfortable with close to five quarts, but now, a gallon is about it.

My enemas started at a very young age... I've mentioned they were from a bulb and extremely strong - Ivory Flakes was melted in pot on the stove... the 8-ounce bulb full was like an 8-once suppository. The cramps were unbelievable and cleaned my out. Many hours later I would expel a thick clear blob of mucus... As I grew older I became aware there was an enema bag and kept thinking/worrying about graduation day - when instead of the bulb waiting for me, the enema bag would be. The nurse who lived down the hall in our apt house was no help, as she and my mom talked about enemas and was interested in my enemas.. So, as to enema volume - one full bulb, till I was graduated to the bag.. Then maybe a qt.. It wasn't till I reached puberty when my dread of enemas turned to curiosity and I decided to give myself a full 2 qt bag..

About 7 yrs old maybe 8 and was on mom's lap, dad watching and used 8 oz bulb, got a second bulb and was sure I was going explode, When got to 16 would babysit for my brother and wife on the nights out and saw he 2 qt bag in the shower. That was the best 2 qts as it started a life of enjoyment. Now many years later 4 qts and holding for 15 mins is joy. In fact I am in 20 mins holding now so got to go.....really badly but with a smile.

At 69, 2 1/2 to 3 quarts is my limit. During my many years of enjoying enemas, i have tried to take more but was very uncomfortable so i stay with what is most enjoyable for me.

Most of the time I'd agree, as long as the stool is in the rectum. I have had some times when it didn't though, my hypothesis is that things somehow got stuck up higher in the sigmoid or such, and smaller enemas just came back clear. It had been a number of days with no-go, so I know there was stuff up there too.

The most difficult ones are when it was not only stuck high up but also hard to get the water around. The times I've had that happen (not common, fortunately) it has been a bit of tweaking and multiple enemas before I can get it "up and around" the stool to clear things out. Usually several rushes to the toilet because of significant urge but nothing beyond water comes out, then finally "the dam breaks" Not a fun enema, but felt so much better after.

My wife went 10 days with no movement once. I made her do an enema and she couldn't take more than a quart and nothing came out except water. I made her take the rest and she had good results from that. I think the first one softened the stool and the next one cleared her out. That was almost 30 years ago and she hasn't had one since. I have heard if you use mineral oil first, it will soften it as well.

Oil enemas make a big mess - a partner had the hots to give me a large oil enema, so he bought a pint of mineral oil, came over my house, warmed it up and placed all of it the enema bag... At first it did not flow right, so he had to raise the bag up very high in order to get into me. I had purposely gotten myself constipated since I wanted to experience the oil enema to see what it would do. - but as far as I'm concerned a strong Ivory soap enema would have worked better.. the mineral oil did not produce strong cramps... just made things slippery.. all that oil in the pluming probably not a great idea.. despite soapy enemas after it, still had some oil drips... Probably a small amount of oil as a retention enema would have been better..

They do make a big mess. I've used an enamel can for them. In this instance I was referring to a fleet mineral oil enema. It's a few ounces and is meant to soften the stool. You won't have an urge to go after the oil, a soapy follow up does that.

As a youngster, I followed the directions in the medical texts relative to volume and retention time. My mom didn't seem to follow those specific directions.

The volume increased and I enjoyed the larger enema sensations as I reached puberty. The reactions were much more explosive in various ways.

While I've pushed my limits a few times, I still find that 1.5 to 2 quarts is great for a good enema cleanse, even if 2 or 3 fills is on the agenda.

Up to 8 oz of mineral oil, followed by a soapy enema and rinse, can also be a fufilling session, especially if constipation is truly an issue!

So many sites on Google warn against enemas. If so many people are doing them and seem to be surviving very well, are these warnings over cautionary?

I have found that the more times you take a enema, the more you can handle because you are able to know your limits.

As for what Google says, consider that the drug companies want to sell you over the counter pills so that they can increase sales. However some people have been known to overdo a enema volume with not very good results.

Only to the extent that I need to see whatever bag I'm using filled to brim like it was made to be... the bag then looks scary and kind of shouts out "ENEMA!".

Everyone has their own take on the volume issue. Some like a smaller but crampy enema, like a one quart strong soap solution or glycerin and Epsom salt. Some like the distention of a larger volume, which for some is two quarts, others three, and for some of the champs here, 4 quarts or more. I have always thought that pushing that limit, even for an experienced enema receiver, is flirting with damage. As always, listen to your body (well pay attention to it) and work your way up in volume till you find what is most comfortable.

I was very young...under 5. My mother did them frequently and for punishment. I hated them, but apparently it leaves one with the need...or desire later.

For me, it does. A small enema is not very exciting. I much prefer to get most of the waste out of my colon, and then get a larger fill. There is a certain point where your colon feels FILLED that becomes VERY arousing. There is a pretty fine line between that "filled" feeling and too much.

Yes, I think so. When I was single, I took an enema session 2-3 times a week, for over 15 years. Then I cut back a bit, but still took a session once a week. That is thousands of enemas over a period of 50+ years. I don't think it has done me ANY harm at all.

Now those awful Fleet and similar enemas mess with your electrolytes.
