Fibromyalgia patients

How would a doctor perform a pelvic exam on a fibromyalgia patient versus one without any symptoms? Are there more things to be aware of and other considerations? Do doctors find fibromyalgia patients tend to have more pelvic exams and feel the need for them? If so can consideration be made for does the patient feel more true pelvic pain, is it associated with fibromyalgia, does the patient just feel the need physiologically and more so psychologically to be cared for? Do multiple return trips to the doctor for just pelvic pain mean the patient is searching for compassion or is there subliminal enjoy ment?

I think you are asking more in terms of clinical vs a play setting...here is a bit of detail that may help....

First, fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal problem that presents through numerous "trigger" points. A common problem is painful intercourse and or pain in the vulva....and of course pelvic area pain in general. So with that more frequent pelvic exams are common simply due to the area involved. Also it's a situation where the gynecologist needs to rule "in" fibromyalgia by ruling "out" gynecological issues...so additional focus on ensuring the pain is not coming from a reproductive system issue.

As far as pelvic exams where this has already been diagnosed the doctor I going to take into consideration discomfort during an exam coming from the fibromyalgia problem...but can't ignore other possibilities. For instance, if there is a lot of discomfort when the cervix is moved you can't ignore the possibility of endometriosis....so you are going to give a more in depth exam regardless

There are a lot of bad gynecologists out there...education doe snot equal wisdom...or even common sense in many cases. So I think a lot of women do indeed make repeat appointments simply to find a good doctor who does not simply gloss over pelvic problems just because nothing obvious was found during a quick exam
