Successful colonoscopy prep

Just had colonoscopy #38 (I have Crohn's disease) and thought I'd relate the details of the prep. The procedure was scheduled for Tuesday AM. My last solid food was on Saturday, 6PM. Had clear fluids all day Sunday. Finished the day with two 2 Qt enemas, first one mild Dr. Bronners lavender soap suds, second, a saline rinse. Both administered by my wife with a Rexall Victoria open top bag. Monday morning started with two, 2.50 Qt saline enemas from my Compacto folding syringe. Noontime I took one dose (One liter) of MOVI-PREP.....YUK!! I hate that stuff, but as Susie and others have stated, unless the small bowel is empty, your GI doctor won't be happy. We finished off the day with three, 3 Qt saline enemas. Up early Tuesday morning, we did three 3.25 Qt saline enemas with my SHEREMA 4 Qt bag. The last one had a happy ending : )

After the procedure, I asked the Dr. if the prep was ok. He said he wished all his patients were as clean as I was. He knows that I use enemas as part of the prep. This prep worked well for me, YMMV. Be aware that I have no ascending colon, so I only have 80% of the normal length (5') of the large intestine. After the bowel surgery, I was concerned with flora from the large bowel migrating into the small bowel during enemas, and causing problems. After several years of post surgery enemas, there have been no problems.
