With age, I find myself needing more than a few trips to various hospitals and clinics for non-emergency procedures, X-rays, MGIs, etc. I have another one coming up in a few days, a colonoscopy. Anticipation got me thinking about the MedFet aspects of these real life events.
You know you're going to give up much of your privacy, modesty and CONTROL. As a MedFeter, what's your favorite part of going in for - whatever. Vital Signs? History? IV or injections? Something else?
For me, it's the disrobing. Each place does it differently. You may be in a changing room with lockers, there may be a door or just a curtain. You may be in a bathroom or just behind the curtain by the stretcher in the ward. My personal favorite is the stretcher. I love knowing that others can hear as the nurse gives directions to disrobe and put on the gown, especially if they specify what to take off, especially if it's everything. I also love knowing that the curtain NEVER closes completely.
My second favorite part is when you are positioned and draped for the procedure. You will be exposed in most cases, especially if skin prep is being done.
Can you guess that I'm a bit of an exhibitionist?
