My N.P. is always very thorough and I always feel good about my exams, which are much more lengthy than my partner's exams. She had one male doctor talk to her for 20 minutes about his family, hobbies, etc before he did the exam, and then he did a 10 second breast exam over the gown and no external exam. It seems that male doctors are more skittish with female patients and they seem to rush the exams, whereas female practitioners are more thorough, deliberate, and less concerned witn allegations of malpractice. She has gone to male doctors, but she feels females are more comfortable examining her and doing a more thorough exam.
I asked the gown question to see if it would be realistic for play exams, as there is no consensus: some females say a real doctor would insist that a female patient wear a gown, while some say the doctor would allow the patient to leave the gown off.
As a male seeing a female N.P. it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue. I leave my underwear on, but it wouldn't bother me to go without them, and my N.P. probably wouldn't really care if I left them off. It's mildly exciting for both of us, but she is always professional, and neither one of us crosses any boundaries. The fact that I like to see her, and I don't mind her examing me is a positive, as I always go to my appointments,.which benefits my health.
I don't want to mix real health concerns with play exams, as I had cancer myself and I have to go to frequent appointments; however I do enjoy realistic play ob-gyn exams, so I would like to know what is possible from a female perspective. : ).
