As I read Emom's post where she said
I don't remember how old I was when I got that first enema, but it had to be when I was 4 or younger. Since I got enemas from a bulb up until I was maybe 6 or 7, that had to be what my mother used that first time. As I recall I was not one who loved that bulb and while later on I wasn't exactly happy about an enema from the bag, it did seem somewhat more pleasant.
I realized how her experience mirrored my own experience (in general).
I also got enemas from a little bulb up until the age of around 6 from my mother and did not like them. And I know I got those enemas before that age, maybe around 3 or 4 at the earliest . I got suppositories earlier than 4 so I'm guessing the bulb started sometime around then, give or take a year.
And like Emom I wasn't all too happy about enemas from the bag. The first one I received from a bag was while staying at my grandmother's one summer. I remember having seen enema bags hanging in our bathroom and at my cousins house but had never gotten one up to that point in time. When my grandmother brought the partially filled bag into the bedroom for my enema, I was so scared. It just seemed so big compared to that little bulb. But also like Emom, what I did experience that day was somewhat more pleasant then the bulb enemas I had previously received.
While the insertion was the same, the solution flow felt different than the "squeezing of the bulb" flow.and what I really found much more pleasant was the fact that there was only one insertion, not the repeated insertions from the bulb.
Now mind you I didn't enjoy that enema or the ones I got from a bag later on from my mom, but I was able to find at least some part of the bag enema I didn't hate as much as the bulb enemas.
Of course then there were aspects of the bag enema I hated more than the bulb, especially when the quantity of solution increased and more cramping occurred.
I guess when it comes to getting enemas, you win some and you lose some (no pun intended)......LOL
