Thank you Gynoslave for your kind words.
Perhaps I can enlarge on my previous post in this thread by maybe sticking more to the original question, that of pelvic massage to cure hysteria.
Hysteria, as it was probably termed in the dark ages, was very likely nothing more than tension and actual phyical maladies caused by unsatisfying sexual experiences - coitus not resulting in orgasm for the ladies - due maybe to what surely were unenlightened attitudes on the part of menfolk. "Wham bam, thank you Ma'am" - yes, it often survives to this day!
In intercourse a woman's abdominal organs, particularly the genitals, are suffused with blood and affected by hormones and secretions released by stimulation. The counterpart to this in men is engorgement of the penis to erection, the release of lubricating fluid (precum) and the charging of the seminal vesicles etc with semen.
Mother Nature was not too bothered about orgasms, save for the man's and her preparations described above were to facilitate the best conditions in the female genitals for the reception of sperm and aiding them on a journey through the uterus and into the fallopian tubes where the female's egg was waiting.
What I call incomplete intercourse - intercourse without orgasm for the lady (sometimes a product of coitus interruptus - withdrawal) results in stagnation of the blood in the abdomen, hormones and secretions that go nowhere and a whole lot of rightful tension, anger and feelings of worthlessness - being a cum receptacle or a breeding machine.
Is it any wonder that such women go a little 'mad', or 'hysterical'. I bet most men would too, if they were allowed to go so far and then get pushed out!
Quite sensibly the medical profession of the time noticed (maybe it was a naughty playdoc who saw it first)that sexual relief to orgasm lowered the tensions. Now, rather than turn themselves all into playdocs, they adopted appropriate methods and invented new instruments, vibrators, and prescribed wonderful new treatments, probably charging the earth for what should have been a straight forward chat with wayward husbands to buck their ideas up and look after the lady's needs.
The availability these days of modern and ever more complex sex toys should have eliminated this malady. Unfortunately its not so. It's said that 'nice' ladies don't go into such adult stores and governments, including the UK, make the shops hide behind blacked out windows to the extent that they're regarded as 'seedy'
So it's off to see the doctor - 'Ah, its depression - take these happy pills - they're a little habit forming so you may have to take them for a lifetime'. Or, 'I'll make you a referral to see a shrink'. That's right, doctors have slipped back into the pre pelvic massage era, not all husbands know their place in the marriage bed and a lot of patients want the quick fix that a pill will (?) give!
