Hello rn1993 I was going to write to say thank you for encouraging me. I seem to be talking my husband's friends finally and I am enjoying the welcome. I was right, I am liking this forum too much!
At first I thought I might be a bit silly for thinking about paying to go private and have an examination but my husband showed me what you said to him, and I knew I should just do it. My mum had gone on at me a bit and she had reasons that my husband could have told you about before. She had 2 smears that they were not sure about and she had to be retested. It made her worried but it was fine in the end. She has had 3 breast lumps I think but they were found to be nothing. My husband carefully checks my breasts a few days after the end of my cycle. I am sure now that he knows what he's doing because he does it the same way my gynecologist did last week. Another problem of my mum's was a fibroid that was quite big. It pressed her bladder so it made her need to wee too often. She wants to be checked again and has asked my husband if he will take her if she books herself in for an appointment. I am still giggling at my husband's funny post when he said I treated him like a butler but I hope I wasn't as bad as that lol It was just me getting jittery before my medical and he just knew what I needed before I knew it myself. I think he can read my mind some times.
I am glad that my gynecologist found no problems like my mum's. All my tests came back clear. I knew my iron would be ok because they check that when I give blood. My liver function is good and it was worth having that test as well.
In my exam he was very good telling me what he would do and he did have a good bedside manner. He cared that I was comfortable during the love tunnel bits of the exam. I realised he was good at pushing the speculum inside me. Not like the 2 nurses were when I had smears at my GP who were friendly but a bit rough.
Oh yeah the trans-vaginal ultrasound was strange but interesting. It was odd getting the device put inside me with a cover on it and then I could see my uterus and everything on the screen while he pointed out what was what, and saying it all looked healthy.
I have read the earlier posts here and I am surprised that some American girls and an Argentinian girl had exams at 16 or younger! I did not think there would be so many having them so young. My husband has told me about his first girlfriends having medicals at 16 to go on the pill and I know I had it easy because that wasn't something I had to go through.
Next year I want my husband with me and not leave him behind in the waiting room. I felt bad about that and I should have asked if he could come through with me.
