Fertility (Presence of Sperm) Before and After Vasectomy

I had a vasectomy about 30 years ago. Prior to that we had been unsuccessful in creating a second baby and had a sperm check performed to see if maybe the guys were too lazy to be any good. Going into the general practice clinic and asking for a fertility check was a bit embarrassing. I mean the only way to check is to provide a semen sample and it has to be very fresh - you can't bring it from home. So after I stumbled out what I needed and why the doctor took me to the clinic where such samples were given and a nurse gave me a plastic sample cup, explained I was to produce the semen into the cup and put it into a small "window/cabinet" in one of the private rooms off the waiting area. Oh yeah, if needed I would find magazine in there. So into this little room, like a closet with a vinyl chair and a table with lots of Playboy and Penthouse magazines. Oh man, what a scene. So I dropped my pants, looked at some of the pictures and proceeded to pump away until I finally produced the needed semen sample into the clear-plastic cup. Now I was worried whether they would think there wasn't enough there. Should I do more? Well, that wasn't going to happen for a while so I just put my sample in the cabinet, closed the door and left the closet after making sure I didn't leave anything undone. The test came back in a few days that yes I was fertile so we then figured maybe we just weren't going to have more kids. To prevent a baby in the future, we decided I would get a vasectomy and that was done (another story for another forum posting). After a few weeks, you have to have another sperm check to see if you still have some in you. If you do, then you need to keep coming back until your semen is found to be sperm free. Anyway, I went back to the clinic to get my post-vasectomy exam done, the nurse told me to do like I did before. I could almost see a slight smile cross her face but she didn't actually smirk as she reminded me of the magazines in the collection room as she called the closet. Now I looked at the others in the waiting room and couldn't help it; they all knew what I was going to do. I was going to go in and masturbate for a while to give some semen to an unknown technician. That's what they were there for too but it was embarrassing to think of them imagining what I was doing in my collection room. I was worried whether I was making too much noise - everyone knows you can't masturbate and stay completely silent, there are some usual sounds that every guy and most girls knows. So there I am in there, pumping away looking at the pictures (sure wish they had DVDs back then) for what seemed to be an eternity. Finally, my plumbing and nerves cooperated and I spurted out the required sample for the little cabinet. Then I left the room as everyone watched me leave - I'm imagining them all asking me if I had a good time in there. So what was it like for others? Did you have any trouble with doing the sperm checks?
