Spanking wounds

Disclaimer:

I wouldn't ever spanked someone to cause her/him wounds or bleeding. This is just a fantasy question.

Imagine you are the play doc. And your patient comes with sore bottom (after being naughty and punished at "school"). After a short inspection you find out the stripes/wounds from a cane. How would you as playdoc tried to deal with these wounds?

Would you use cotton swab with alcohol to clean the wounds? Or some kind of ointment perhaps? Or a dusting powder?
