Came across this tidbit based on an offhand remark. Turns out he believed that orgasm was an expression of life energy - that it could be stored, harnessed and used to cure disease. He conducted experiments (he's the one that actually documented the phases of arousal). There exists some SERIOUS role-play potential around this LOL.

Assume we're a link missing there drphilips but without benefit of being able to see his treatise I would assume that some of the principles of Tantra parallel his research.

This debate on sexual energy reminds me of a soft-porn italian film called something like "In the year 2000, you'l have to make love" which I saw sometime in the seventies.

According to the scenario, in the year 2000, the world is suffering from a terrible energy crisis that has stopped the whole civilization, no more airplanes, no more cars, no more electricity. Then, a scientist discovers a way to convert sex activity into energy. So, within a few weeks, the world economy is restaured and civilization as we know it is back, but all citizens are requested by the authorities to engage in all kind of sex activity. So the film showed a lot of sex activity going on, the actors allways having some kind of electrodes on their bodies to produce energy. Eventually, people get tired of having sex on command and a group of "resistants" promoting romantic love seize power and the world goes back to a kind of preindustrial golden age where poelpe make love just for fun.
