There's a video on YouTube of a male mammography tech. It appears to be from Italy. I haven't been able to find any more of those.
It seems like my mammograms are just to see if my breasts are still dense. I have to have a breast ultrasound shortly after. I thought I was getting too old to have dense breasts.
I want to ask my doctor if they could just do the breast ultrasound. When I ask her, I won't mention how much nicer the warm gel feels in the cold room.

Indeed in a radiology office, it is common for mammography examinations to be entrusted to female technicians.
However, male manipulators are quite competent and, considering their habit of seeing naked bodies, they must not have any lustful looks or show the slightest emotion.
On the other hand, I doubt that your practitioner is satisfied with an ultrasound only.
Indeed, mammography allows us to evaluate the entire gland on a single image, in front and profile view.
Only then can we refine a particular point with ultrasound.
Wanting to analyze each of your breasts with the probe would be far too long and inefficient.
If your breasts are still very dense, it is more common to need an additional ultrasound, but this is not systematic.
Modern X-ray machines and the arrival of digital radiology have allowed us much finer and earlier diagnoses.
I know that many patients do not appreciate the obligation to compress the breast to obtain an image, but it is essential.
I also recall that, except increased risk (cancer in the family) the frequency is 2 years after 50 years and that the important thing is to practice the regular palpation and to consult in case of doubt.
