Pinching open urethra

Several doctors I have had over the years have checked inside the opening of the urethra but usually it isn't pinched open the way you are describing. My pediatrician would usually check my anus first (I posted about that in another topic thread... He mostly didn't put fingers inside me but spread my cheeks and touched the outside of my anus for several minutes, which even at age 8 to 12 gave me an erection)... Then he would pull back my foreskin (I got circumcised when I was 15) and use his fingers to spread open my urethra and look there. Sometimes the nurse was there and would hold my foreskin back so the doctor could more easily use his fingers to spread open my urethra. He would look for about two or three minutes, sometimes spreading it open almost uncomfortably far.

During school medical visits, the doctor controlled my meatus by pinching the glans.

During the examination, he also turned the foreskin up and palpated the testicles.

Not by a male gp, but the female urologist did.

Sometimes the nurse was there and would hold my foreskin back so the doctor could more easily use his fingers to spread open my urethra. He would look for about two or three minutes, sometimes spreading it open almost uncomfortably far.

As if pinching open a meatus, on even an uncircumcised penis, requires so much dexterity, precision and adroitness that 4 hands are needed ... ha ha.

Maybe the nurse got a kick out of lending a helping hand, if you don't mind the pun ... I know that I can do it to myself with just one hand should I wish to. I think I'll give it a try later on.

I have had this done at several urology/infertility visits over the years, but not at my regular physical exams. Probably just as well, since my regular doctor was female for 28 years and I was frequently (but not always) wet at the tip when she did the genital exam. This did not happen at the urology exams , even though those visits were exciting to me psychologically, I expect because those doctors were male. I did have an STD exam at a Planned Parenthood clinic 12 years ago, and the doctor was female, and she actually noted my pre-ejaculate as potential STD discharge, which surprised me.

Nursing 88 text on genital exam has photos: Nurse is to grasp penis behind glans between 2nd and 3rd fingers each hand, and then spreading the meatus with thumbs. One of my NP's & urologist did it this way. Others used the 'pinch' technique

My doctor does this at every physical exam. I usually have an erection by the time that he gets to that so it's already kind of opened up, but he does the pinch thing and looks in. From what I understand, if you have an infection, it is going to look red in there.

I don't recall ever having this happen to me.

I’ve only had an urologist CRNP spread my penis glans to look inside. He gave me the most thorough genital exam I’ve ever received. Kinda excited to see him next week!

Can't say I've ever had this happen. I just get the usual "turn your head and cough". Probably for the best that I haven't had a doc check me out like that, as I doubt I'd be able to avoid getting an erection. Something about genital exams...

Strangely enough I just posted to another thread about this!

My doctors have been doing this since puberty. The first time I thought my dick looked like it was talking. I think they are looking for any dischage that could indicate infection.

That or a laugh.

Never that I remember during a regular physical exam. Have had a regular doctor examine my penis but only a urologist who examined it and pinched the head open to see what I'm not sure. It didn't hurt and it took a second. Same urologist expressed prostatic fluid by prostate massage and collected it on a microscope slide. Which was weirder than pinched the head open. I hadn't had that done before and wasn't sure what he was after at the time until he said that he needed prostatic fluid to check under the microscope for bacteria.

A lot of people had thorough exams of their genitals. The most thorough one I can remember was to retract my foreskin.

At the time I was happy it was not more than that. Now, I think I would have remembered and likes the experience.

My internist does this every year during the genital exam to check for discharge.

Last time I went to the doctor he didn't even venture down there, much less give it a squeeze. But - I'm probably overdue for a physical, and probably going to try a different doc... so we shall see where that leads!

I will gently squeeze open a patients urethra during play exams, generally I’m looking for signs of arousal, usually in the form of pre-ejaculatory fluid 😃

Only turn your head & cough @ regular annual exams. Once my male doc did touch & examine my penis during a STD exam. Never had a physical exam by a female except a dermatologist.

Not at all. I barely felt it when my doctor did it to me.

Not in the slightest. I am certain that when masturbating the urethra gets pinched open many times, be it unintentionally. All you have to do is try it on yourself.

My pediatrician first and my family doctor later have always done so.

When I went to the urologist, he also did it and as he looked at me he asked me questions about how he urinated, the flow of urine .....

When I have my annual physical, the female PA that examines me includes a brief palpation of my penis from base to tip, finishing with gently pinching open my urethra for a brief visual exam. It is always part of the genital exam, and my physical ends with me bent over the exam table for a rectal/prostate exam.

I have had STD swabs when in college and grad school as I was single and well it made sense. The doc always examined my penis including spreading open my urethra and also swabbing. The pinching or spreading open was not a concern; didn't really feel it but the swab was a bit unpleasant.

My family doctor always pinched open the meatus during the physical exam even my pediatrician did it when I was younger. Can’t remember a time where it wasn’t part of the genital exam. Sometimes it’s before the testicular exam but most of the time it’s after.

My previous doctor would always retract my foreskin and spread the meatus to look in. Just changed to an adult doctor so we’ll see what they do.
