The first thing I’d recommend is not using the Coudé catheters, which have a big bend designed to get it through an enlarged prostate. Secondly, to have fun, get larger catheters. Guys can easily get an 18 in the penis. Thirdly if one is just going to put it into the penis one can use either a straight catheter or a Foley catheter without inflating the balloon. Foley catheters come in larger sizes.
New, rookie catheter players should go to the library or other sources and read up on how nurses insert catheters in a sterile fashion. See some videos. One skill is putting on gloves without contamination. Read up on that or videos. When you’ve gotten the education, then buy good stuff. It’s cheap, compared to other recreational adventures.
Allegro medical sells straight catheter insertion kits complete with a new catheter for about $2.15 apiece. So if one gets 10 of them, with shipping, your adventure will cost less than $30 with shipping. That’s same price as going to the movies 3 times. Use sterile stuff properly and you’ll avoid infections.
Now consider the cost of messing up your penis and bladder because you didn’t get educated, tried to reuse the catheter, stuck the Coudé in the wrong way. What will it cost to go to the ER or your family physician? What will the medications for an infection cost?
Once you’ve tried inserting only into the penis, you won’t want to stop there. I’m sure you’ll keep pushing into the bladder to drain some urine. It’ll be even more important to use sterile everything. Graduate to a Foley later. It can be fun to wear a catheter for a long period of time.
Lastly when you play with your urethra and bladder, drink lots of water, like a quart an hour, to flush out your bladder and urethra.
