Nike has unveiled their designs for US athletic uniforms for the 2024 Olympics, and it is causing quite a stir. Do a google search for it and you will find plenty of photos and opinions. Most of the complaints are about the women’s track and field bikini bottom with a fairly narrow front and high cut legs.
Funny comments on social media include women with a full bush showing lots of pubic hair out either side. Others have joked they may have to choose which labia to tuck in and which to hang out
From a purely selfish perspective I would love to see a sexy peek of pubic hair. There are plenty of examples of other body hair being visible on athletes, just not pubic hair. But mostly I want to see the uncomfortable confrontation between the overly proud, out of touch designers, the Olympic officials who will require the official uniform to be worn, the struggle to discuss pubic hair grooming standards, and the media coverage of the events with their struggle to handle broadcast TV in the prudish US.
I feel very bad for the actual athletes who just want to compete in their sport, and now are being forced into the middle of a sexualized fashion conflict between what is effectively various tiers of upper management. I’m going to make a wild guess here and say there are probably more old white men involved in this decision making than women athletes. Yet another venue where body autonomy is being dictated by people who should not.
I hope someday personal grooming will be not such a big deal, and decision makers will step out of issue where they don’t belong.
I don’t feel the simple existence or ownership of pubic hair is inherently kinky. I feel what you choose to do with it defines your style of kink. Dying it the colors of your national flag and flying it out the leg holes of your sports uniform will earn a few kink points on my score card. Go Team!!
